    • Picks up another shaky save
Helsley allowed a run on three hits in one inning but earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. He struck out a batter in the outing.

Advice: Helsley ran into trouble against the Cubs for the second consecutive night and was still able to escape with a save. He allowed a leadoff home run to Ian Happ and then gave up back-to-back two-out singles before getting Seiya Suzuki to end things with a fly out. That's now seven hits and three runs given up by Helsley over his last two appearances, though both still turned into saves. He's tied with Emmanuel Clase atop baseball with 17 saves and still owns excellent overall numbers with a 2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB in 24 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:43 am

    • Converts 17th save
Clase allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Angels on Sunday.

Advice: Clase worked around a two-out single to close out the 5-4 victory and pick up his 17th save of the year. He's gone 20.1 straight innings without allowing an earned run and he's converted 13 of his last 14 save chances. Clase's ERA is down to a ridiculous 0.33 with a 26:2 K:BB through 27.1 frames. • Extends strikeout streak
Estrada (2-0) earned the win over the Yankees on Sunday, striking out all five batters he faced.

Advice: Estrada threw 20 of 26 pitches for strikes and got all five of his punchouts on swinging strikes. The right-handed reliever has now struck out each of the last 10 batters he's faced swinging to set a Padres record. Estrada's been dominant during his time with San Diego this season, allowing just one earned run over 15.1 frames while posting a 25:4 K:BB. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:40 pm

    • Ryan Helsley serves up homer, still records save
Ryan Helsley served up a solo homer to Ian Happ in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but still managed to escape with the lead intact and earn his 17th save of the season.

Advice: After giving up a leadoff blast to Happ that trimmed the Cardinals’ lead to one run, he then retired Dansby Swanson on a line drive to third base and struck out Michael Busch. He then allowed a pair of two-out singles to Nick Madrigal and Mike Tauchman before getting Seiya Suzuki on a line drive to center to end it. The Cardinals’ stopper has now converted 17 of his first 18 save chances on the season while producing a stellar 2.25 ERA. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:20 pm

    • Clase slams the door for 17th save
Emmanuel Clase pitched a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Clase allowed a two-out single but no other damage as he earned his 17th save of the season. The right-hander now has a 0.33 ERA and has been far-and-away the best closer in baseball so far in 2024. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:57 pm
    • Fans two in save
Clase picked up the save over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one hit over one inning while striking out two.

Advice: Clase entered the game with a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and surrendered a leadoff single to Logan O'Hoppe before retiring the next three batters in succession, with two of them going down on strikes. It marked Clase's third appearance this month in which he's registered multiple strikeouts and he's now converted each of his last three save opportunities. The right-hander currently sits at 16 saves on the season, which ties him for the major league lead with Ryan Helsley. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:06 am
    • Clase picks up 16th save Saturday
Emmanuel Clase tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up his 16th save of the season against the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Clase allowed one hit and struck out two batters. He lowered his ERA to 0.34 with another scoreless appearance. Clase continues to show he’s one of the league’s elite closers. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:34 pm
    • Escapes with save
Helsley allowed two runs on four hits in one inning but earned the save in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Cubs. He did not walk or strike out a batter.

Advice: Helsley had gone 11 innings without allowing a run, and he hadn't given up multiple hits in an appearance since April 27. Luckily for the Cardinals, they gave him a three-run lead to protect, and that was just enough leeway in this one. Helsley is 16-for-17 in save chances this season with a 1.96 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB over 23 innings. His lone blown save came in his season debut, and he remains one of the top closers in baseball despite pitching for a mediocre team. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:01 pm

    • Ryan Helsley closes out Cubs on Saturday night
Ryan Helsley walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Saturday against the Cubs, but managed to escape with the lead intact to earn his 16th save of the season.

Advice: Helsley took over with a three-run lead to protect, but immediately made things interesting by allowing singles to Dansby Swanson and Nick Madrigal to start the inning. After retiring Ian Happ, he allowed a run-scoring single to Mike Tauchman and a two-out RBI single to Cody Bellinger that made it a one-run game. He battled back though, getting Christopher Morel to bounce into a fielder’s choice to end it. Helsley has now made good on 16 of his first 17 save chances on the season while posting a 1.96 ERA.
