      Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season.       Advice: Yamamoto allowed the leadoff man to reach in back-to-back innings to open the contest but still managed to keep Arizona's lineup at bay over six frames. The right-hander has now hurled 12 scoreless innings over his last two starts and has won each of his last three decisions after imploding in his MLB debut.       Advice: Gil rebounded from his first bad start of the season, completing six innings for the first time all season while blanking the O's. Gil has allowed three or fewer hits in all but one start this season, but has allowed 20 walks in 31 innings, leading to an overall ERA of 3.19. The 26-year-old has been a pleasant surprise in the back end of the Yankees rotation and could find himself among the elite fantasy pitchers if he can reign in his walk problem.       Luis Gil out-dueled Corbin Burnes on Wednesday evening in Baltimore, scattering just two hits over 6 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.

      Advice: The right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the night while allowing only one base on balls. Both of the hits against him in the contest were singles and the O’s never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him. Gil generated nine whiffs on 95 pitches on the night — six of those on his fastball which averaged 95.8 mph — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. The 25-year-old hurler has made a major impact in the Yankees’ rotation through the first month-plus of the season, going 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 40/20 K/BB ratio over 31 innings through his first six starts. It was the first time he’s gone deep since April 6, snapping a bizarre 22-game homerless drought.
