He kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but he allowed a pair of singles before departing in the seventh — and both runners came around to score against the Yankees’ bullpen. Cortes got 13 whiffs on 97 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.72 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 46/8 K/BB ratio (48 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays in Tampa Bay. All of the damage done against him came in the first two innings, as Aaron Judge crushed a solo homer in the first and Oswaldo Cabrera added an RBI double in the second. Skubal generated 18 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the day — a whopping 12 of those on his changeup — while posting a ridiculous CSW of 44 percent.     Advice: Jon Singleton and Kyle Tucker both hit two-run homers off Miller, but this was still hardly a disaster. He’s really been great at limiting the damage in his worse starts this season, and he’s allowed a total of two earned runs in his four good outings, leaving him with a 2.61 ERA in 41 1/3 innings to date.     Hunter Brown lasted 4 1/3 innings and allowed two runs Sunday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

    Advice: Brown walked four and threw 91 pitches to get his 13 outs. His 13.1% walk rate this season is more than 50% higher than his previous career mark, and nothing else he’s doing is making up for that.   • Josh Hader yields go-ahead homer in ninth
    Josh Hader lost after giving up a go-ahead homer in a tie game Sunday against the Mariners.

    Advice: It’s the save situations in which Hader has struggled, but the loss today came after he was asked to preserve a tie. Cal Raleigh’s homer was the second surrendered by Hader in 14 2/3 innings this year. Given that his strikeout rate remains exceptional and his groundball rate is actually considerably higher than usual, we’re still not worried about Hader at all. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    Bednar allowed one hit and struck out one over a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Sunday against the Rockies.

    Advice: Bednar allowed a two-out double but otherwise looked sharp for the second-consecutive day as he earned his sixth save Sunday, dropping his ERA to 9.69 and WHIP to 1.46 in the process. Despite the scoreless effort, the Pirates' stopper has allowed at least one run in seven of his 15 appearances this season. Pirate fans and fantasy managers alike hope these last two performances against the listless Rockies will serve as a momentum boost for Bednar, who entered the season as one of the top relievers in baseball.     Liberatore pitched 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out five batters in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

    Advice: Liberatore was called upon to make his first start of the season Sunday and he did not disappoint. The southpaw allowed a double to Paul DeJong in the second inning, who later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Ramos, accounting for all the damage on Liberatore's line. The 24-year-old's 50 total pitches were his highest total of the season while the 3.2 innings on the mound set a new long for an outing this season. Operating primarily as a bullpen option in 2024, Liberatore now owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 20 innings in 13 appearances, including Sunday's start.     Feltner (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits through 5.2 innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.

    Advice: Feltner was in line for the win through five innings, having allowed only one run to that point but he allowed four runs on five hits in the sixth, including a couple of doubles and a blast by Oneil Cruz that helped seal Feltner's fate. Feltner was coming off a career-best eight-plus inning performance in his last start but eventually ran out of gas against a Pirates squad that had only managed three runs during the first two games of the series. Feltner will carry a 5.54 ERA and 1.46 ERA into his next start, tentatively lined up for next weekend when the Rangers come to the Mile High City for a three-game set. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
