    Mark Canha singled, walked and scored a pair of runs as the Tigers crushed the Blue Jays on Friday evening in Motown.

    Advice: Canha reached on an infield single in the fourth inning then scored as Colt Keith was plunked by an 0-2 pitch with the bases loaded. He also worked a two-out walk off of Alek Manoah in the fifth inning and rode home on Kerry Carpenter’s two-run blast.   • José Abreu to join Astros in Seattle next week
    Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that José Abreu will play at least two games at Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday and Saturday and will then meet up with the Astros in Seattle on Monday.

    Advice: It’s possible that Abreu could also play a third game at Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, though that has yet to be decided. It sounds like Joey Loperfido will be the odd-man out upon Abreu’s return, but it’ll be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out at first base between him and Jon Singleton who has been holding down the fort for the past few weeks.
