    • Corbin Carroll hits first homer in two months
      Corbin Carroll took the Padres’ Dylan Cease deep Sunday for his first homer since May 7.

      Advice: Carroll hit the ball 397 feet, his second-farthest shot this year. It’s the first time since that May 7 homer that he’d hit one over 370 feet. Carroll has just one 400-foot blast this season, compared to 21 last year. We still wouldn’t say there’s a whole lot to be encouraged about here. Rotoworld Today, 4:47 pm

      Gibson (7-3) earned the win Sunday over the Nationals, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Gibson got through the first five innings allowing just two runs, but allowed the first three hitters to reach in the sixth before getting pulled. The veteran has won three of his last four starts and has had quality starts in four of his last seven outings.       Seager went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Rays.

      Advice: Seager's hitting streak is up to 12 games, a span in which he's gone 17-for-46 (.370) with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI and eight runs scored. The shortstop's fourth-inning homer turned this game into a romp for the Rangers.       Pirates’ rookie right-hander Paul Skenes was named to his first National League All-Star team on Sunday, despite having logged just 59 1/3 innings at the big-league level.

      Advice: It’s the first of what should be many All-Star game nods for the studly 22-year-old hurler who has gone 5-0 with a 2.12 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 78/12 K/BB ratio through his first 10 MLB starts.     • Maikel Garcia delivers three-run homer in rout
      After being dropped to the eighth spot in the order, Maikel Garcia went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk against the Rockies on Sunday.

      Advice: Garcia’s last stint of being dropped from the leadoff spot lasted two games, so we’ll see if this one is any longer. He’s been quite a disappointment for the Royals this season, though not really for fantasy purposes with his 21 steals, 52 runs scored and 40 RBI. It’s big for his fantasy value that he lead off, though, and since the Royals aren’t moving Bobby Witt Jr. or Vinnie Pasquantino up to that spot, Garcia probably remains the team’s best option.     • Seager homers, drives in three against the Rays
      Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, and three RBI in a 13-2 win over the Rays on Sunday.

      Advice: There was plenty of talk about Seager’s early-season struggles, but the 30-year-old is now hitting .271/.352/.473 with 16 home runs and 43 RBI heading into the final week before the All-Star break. With Wyatt Langford surging and both Marcus Semien and Adolis Garcia likely to figure out their current slumps, this Rangers offense could get hot in the second half, and Seager will be right in the middle of it.     • Kyle Gibson strikes out eight in five innings
      Kyle Gibson allowed nine hits and three earned runs across five innings on Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out eight, walked two, and earned the victory.

      Advice: Gibson had all his tools working on Sunday as all five of his pitches forced multiple swings-and-misses. The Nationals squeaked plenty of balls through the hole and Gibson weirdly did not receive one out on a fly ball.     • Taking seat with sore knee
      Alvarez (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

      Advice: Per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, Astros manager Joe Espada said that Alvarez's right knee is still "pretty sore" after the 26-year-old was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning of Saturday's 9-3 loss. Alvarez was ultimately removed from Saturday's contest in the eighth inning, and he'll now miss out on a start for the first time since June 19 while he receives treatment for the knee. Espada seemed to downplay the injury and suggested that Alvarez could hit in the batting cage Sunday, though the Astros could still look to stay away from Alvarez in the series finale even if a potential pinch-hitting situation emerges.
