    • Paul Skenes impresses in All-Star Game start
Paul Skenes fired a scoreless inning during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Skenes lived up to the astronomical hype with an impressive frame during his Midsummer Classic debut. The hard-throwing 22-year-old phenom, who fired seven hitless innings with 11 strikeouts in his final outing prior to the All-Star break, broke out his signature splinker to generate a rare ugly swing from Juan Soto and touched triple digits on multiple occasions. The only question left for fantasy managers to ask is whether he can come remotely close to sustaining this over the next few years. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:48 pm
    • Captures Home Run Derby crown
Hernandez defeated the Royals' Bobby Witt, 14-13, in the final round of the 2024 Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field on Monday.

Advice: The 31-year-old became the first Dodgers player to win the Home Run Derby in the event's 38-year history and took home a $1 million prize. A first-time participant in the Home Run Derby, Hernandez secured the final spot in the semifinals after his opening-round total of 19 home runs trailed the Phillies' Alec Bohm (21), the Guardians' Jose Ramirez (21) and Witt (20). Hernandez then survived a swing-off with Bohm after the two tied with 14 home runs in the semifinals before he narrowly edged out Witt in the finals. Hernandez is slated to start for the National League in center field in Tuesday's All-Star Game and will bat eighth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:48 am
    • Teoscar Hernández wins Home Run Derby
Teoscar Hernández won the Home Run Derby on Monday, beating Bobby Witt Jr. 14-13 in the finals.

Advice: Witt came up just a few feet short on his final swing of going to a swing off. MLB’s new format tonight helped prevent any standout performances by adding a clock and a pitch limit, and Alec Bohm’s 21-homer showing as the very first batter in the first round actually ended up as the biggest number of the night. Still, it made for a close competition, and everything was very much in doubt until the very end. Hernández barely survived the semis after Bohm faltered on his final few swings and then edged Witt in the shorter final round. Rotoworld Monday, 7:55 pm
    • Late addition to All-Star Game
Finnegan was named to the National League All-Star team Monday.

Advice: Finnegan wasn't initially named an All-Star, but he'll be available to make his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic after being added as a replacement on the roster for Ryan Helsley. The 32-year-old has the third-most saves in baseball (25) and has recorded a 2.45 ERA across 40.1 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:28 pm

    • Earns save No. 22
Iglesias picked up the save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Padres, tossing a clean ninth inning while striking out a batter in the process.

Advice: Iglesias was able to preserve a three-run lead for Atlanta and help the team go into the break on a positive note. He began with a strikeout against Kyle Higashioka before retiring David Peralta and Jurickson Profar on a pair of lineouts. Iglesias hasn't allowed a run in each of his last eight appearances and last blew a save back on May 3. The 34-year-old isn't striking out as many batters as he has throughout his career but is still posting superb numbers. Iglesias is now up to 22 saves and will take a 2.02 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB (35.2 innings) into the second half of the season. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:53 am
    • Corey Seager named to American League All-Stars
Corey Seager was named to the American League All-Star team on Sunday as an injury replacement for Carlos Correa (foot).

Advice: It’s the fifth time that the 30-year-old shortstop has been named an All-Star. He’s certainly deserving of the honor, slashing .270/.355/.479 with 18 homers, 48 RBI and a stolen base through his first 83 ballgames. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:08 pm

    • Reaches 30-steal mark
Turang went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Turang has struggled at the plate in July, going 9-for-48 (.188) over his first 13 games this month. That's also put a damper on his best attribute, his speed, as he's been able to log just two steals on three attempts in that span. Turang has 30 thefts on 35 attempts this year -- good for second in the majors behind only the Reds' Elly De La Cruz -- while adding six home runs, 38 RBI, 45 runs scored and a .277/.341/.390 slash line through 93 contests. • Earns win in bulk-relief role
Rea (9-3) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Nationals.

Advice: Rea was lit up for seven runs over five innings in his last start, so the Brewers opted to have him work behind an opener Sunday. The plan was a success, as he turned in a strong performance, with the seven strikeouts being one shy of his season high. The 34-year-old has put up decent numbers this year with a 3.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 76:31 K:BB over 105 innings across 19 appearances (16 starts). Rea should remain in the Brewers' rotation following the All-Star break, though it's unclear if he'll resume working as a traditional starter or end up pitching behind an opener more often in the second half. • Zac Gallen gets clobbered in first half finale
Zac Gallen was absolutely clobbered in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon, giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander walked one and struck out just one batter in the ballgame. The Blue Jays had scratched out just an unearned run against him through the first three frames, but the wheels fell off for Gallen in the fourth inning. There, the Jays’ scored on run-scoring singles by Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement before they opened it up with a grand slam off the bat of Kevin Kiermaier. Gallen got just four swings and misses on 70 pitches in the game, registering a CSW of 26 percent. He finishes his first half with a 6-5 record, 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 76/21 K/BB ratio over 76 2/3 innings in his 15 starts. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:15 pm
