• Kutter Crawford goes seven scoreless to beat Yanks
Kutter Crawford delivered a brilliant performance in Sunday night’s victory over the Yankees, scattering four hits over seven scoreless innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He needed just 68 pitches (54 strikes) to get through his seven innings. Crawford has never pitched into the eighth inning in his big-league career though, and the Red Sox trusted their bullpen to get the final six outs. Crawford generated nine whiffs on the night while posting an elite CSW of 38 percent. He’ll attempt to finish the first half strong as he carries a stellar 3.24 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 106/28 K/BB ratio (105 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Royals. • May need another rehab start
Woo (hamstring) threw 45 pitches and allowed two runs on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts over 2.2 innings during his rehab start with High-A Everett on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old rejoined the Mariners on Sunday, but manager Scott Servais was non-committal on whether the right-hander will require an additional rehab outing. The club wants Woo to be able to cover at least four or five innings before being reinserted into the big-league rotation, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's sent on another rehab outing to further build up his workload before being activated. • Ezequiel Tovar goes hitless yet again in loss
Ezequiel Tovar remained hitless for the month of July after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Tovar was the clear choice to serve as the Rockies’ token All-Star a couple of weeks ago, but he’s been brutal of late, going 6-for-50 with one extra-base hit, one RBI, zero runs scored and a 20/0 K/BB in his last 12 games. It’s dropped his OPS from .808 to .734. Ryan McMahon might now be the best bet to be the Rockies’ All-Star, with Cal Quantrill and last year’s All-Star Game MVP Elias Díaz also in the mix. • Sean Manaea strong again across six innings
Sean Manaea shut the Pirates out over six innings on Sunday. He struck out six, walked three, and allowed just two hits.

Advice: Manaea had a rocky start to this game going to multiple three-ball counts in the first inning and throwing 40 pitches total over the first two. Then, he locked in and faced just two batters over the minimum over the rest of his outing. The Pirates had zero left-handed batters in their lineup against the southpaw Manaea and he responded with a heavy diet of sinkers and sweepers. He seemed to make an adjustment with his sweeper too: it was down two ticks and had significantly more depth than usual. He even said, “it felt more like a curveball today” when talking about the pitch after the game. It all worked and Manaea has allowed just one earned run across his last three starts. • Logs another quality start
Manaea yielded two hits, three walks and struck out six over six shutout frames but did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Manaea had another strong outing, picking up back-to-back quality starts for the first time since 2022. The left-hander did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth, when Ke'Bryan Hayes reached on an infield hit. Unfortunately, Manaea did not get much run support, which continues a common theme with him since he's still at five wins this season despite allowing three runs or fewer in 14 of his 17 starts.  Rotowire.com Today, 2:11 pm

  • Picks up seventh win
Lopez (7-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing no runs on two hits and three walks over six innings against the Phillies. He struck out six.

Advice: Lopez dominated once again with his sixth start of the season with five or more innings and zero runs allowed, tying him with Tarik Skubal for the most such appearances in MLB. Lopez lowered his ERA to an MLB-leading 1.71 in the process. It's tied for the fifth-lowest by an Atlanta player in his first 16 starts of a season since 1912 and the lowest since Tom Glavine in 2002. The 30-year-old is already up to 89.2 innings this season, which is his most since 2019, so his workload will be something to monitor in the second half of the season. • Reynaldo López shuts down Phillies, drops ERA to 1.71
Reynaldo López twirled six shutout innings on Sunday in a 6-0 win over the Phillies. He struck out six batters and walked three en route to the win.

Advice: All López does is keep runs off the board. This was the sixth start this season where he didn’t allow an earned run and he hasn’t allowed more than three in any outing. His fastball filled up the zone and his slider put the Phillies’ hitters away. He is a lock for the All-Star team and it’s a bit shocking the White Sox kept him in the bullpen for as long as they did. Rotoworld Today, 1:18 pm

  • Taking seat against lefty Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The shortstop was hit by an Edwin Diaz fastball in the ninth inning Saturday, but there's been no indication Cruz sustained a significant injury from being plunked. Even so, the Pirates will give the lefty-hitting Cruz the afternoon off Sunday while southpaw Sean Manaea takes the hill for the Mets. Jared Triolo will check in at shortstop for Cruz, who had started in each of the previous six games while going 8-for-22 with two home runs, one double, three walks, one stolen base, five RBI and three runs. • Tallies three hits, RBI
Kim went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's loss to Arizona.

Advice: Kim opened the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff double and eventually advanced to third before being left stranded. However, he came right back with hits in each of his next two trips to the plate, driving home Donovan Solano with a double in the eighth to tie the game at 4-4. It marked Kim's second three-hit performance this season and his 13th multi-hit game overall. The shortstop has now hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games, though he's still batting just .222 (4-for-18) through five games in July. Rotowire.com Today, 7:55 am
