    • Brandon Pfaadt goes without a strikeout in loss
Brandon Pfaadt dropped to 1-3 after allowing three runs in six innings Friday against the Orioles.

Advice: Pfaadt managed to turn in a solid outing despite going without a strikeout tonight. He had never fanned fewer than three batters in 26 major league starts. Pfaadt’s ERA stands at 4.60. His 42/8 K/BB ratio in 47 innings is nice, but he’s looking a little too hittable with his velocity down one mph from last year. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
    • Joe Ryan keeps Blue Jays quiet in victory
Joe Ryan pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday in the Twins’ 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays.

Advice: The lone run was a 365-foot homer from Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The ball barely rated as hard hit, leaving his bat at 95.5 mph, and was a homer in only 11 ballparks. It’s Ryan’s fourth straight quality start, and he still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a game this season. Alas, the win tonight was only his second. Ryan will face the Yankees next. • Resumes throwing
Musgrove (elbow) played catch Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Friday marks the first time Musgrove has played catch since he landed on the injured list Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. The 31-year-old righty said everything looked good after receiving an MRI, and he still expects to return from the injured list when eligible next Friday. He owns a 6.37 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 41 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:55 pm

    • Mark Canha returns to Tigers’ lineup on Friday
Mark Canha (illness) returned to the Tigers’ starting lineup for their series opener against the Astros on Friday night.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder missed each of the team’s last two contests due to illness. He’s off to a decent start overall through his first 34 games with the Tigers — hitting .248/.367/.444 with five homers, 16 RBI, one stolen base and a 28/17 K/BB ratio. He’ll serve as the team’s designated hitter and bat third against left-hander Framber Valdez on Friday evening in Motown. Rotoworld Today, 2:32 pm

    • Idle for second straight
Kirillof is not in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 26-year-old will start from the dugout for the second straight matchup as Austin Martin will take left field versus Toronto lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Kiriloff has struggled lately to produce with his bat, going hitless in his last six games. Rotowire.com Today, 1:58 pm

    • Cubs place Dansby Swanson (knee) on 10-day IL
Cubs placed INF Dansby Swanson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right knee sprain.

Advice: Swanson sat out of Wednesday’s contest due to soreness in his knee, and now he’ll be out for at least an additional week while recovering. Fortunately, the Cubs also got good news on the injury front on Friday with Seiya Suzuki being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Expect Nico Hoerner to slide over and cover shortstop while Swanson is shelved, leaving Miles Mastrobuoni to see increased action at second base. Rotoworld Today, 1:49 pm

    • Placed on 10-day IL
Swanson (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 8, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Swanson missed Wednesday's game against the Padres with knee soreness stemming from an awkward slide that occurred April 25, and the injury has now been deemed a right knee sprain. Nico Hoerner slotted in at shortstop Wednesday while Miles Mastrobuoni got the start at second base -- a lineup that could become the norm while Swanson sits. The shortstop will be eligible to return May 18. Rotowire.com Today, 1:45 pm

    • Back in lineup
Canha (illness) is batting third as the Tigers' designated hitter for Friday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Canha has been dealing with an upper respiratory illness and missed a pair of games due to the issue. However, he seems to be on the mend, as he'll be making his first appearance since May 6. Rotowire.com Today, 11:50 am

    • Not in lineup versus righty
Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Kirilloff had started every game this season versus right-handers, but he will begin Thursday's contest on the bench as Seattle sends righty Logan Gilbert to the hill. The lefty-hitting Kirilloff is hitless over his last six contests, which no doubt played a part in manager Rocco Baldelli's decision to give him a day off. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:16 am
