• Heading back to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Advice: He'll give up his spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Daulton Jefferies, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move and is expected to serve as the primary pitcher out of the bullpen in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. Following his call-up from Sacramento last Wednesday, Roupp made two relief appearances for the Giants and gave up three earned runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

  • Availability still in question
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said he's not sure whether Kimbrel (back) will be available to pitch Wednesday versus the Yankees, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Hyde said something similar prior to Tuesday's game and Kimbrel did not appear in that contest. It's possible the skipper is just practicing some gamesmanship here so that the Yankees have less information to work with, but either way it doesn't sound like there will be clarification prior to Wednesday's game. If Kimbrel is indeed unavailable again, Yennier Cano and Danny Coulombe are candidates for saves. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

  • Called up, will be primary pitcher
The Giants recalled Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: Left-hander Erik Miller is slated to open the game for the Giants, but he's unlikely to work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Jefferies is expected to cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen as he makes his first appearance for the Giants since giving up five earned runs over two innings in a spot start back on March 31 in San Diego. The Giants optioned Landen Roupp to Triple-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Jefferies. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago
  • Giants recall Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A
Giants recalled RHP Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Jefferies is expected to see bulk innings out of the Giants’ bullpen on Wednesday evening against the Red Sox. HE was knocked around his last time out for the big league club, surrendering nine runs (five earned) in just two innings of work. Landen Roupp was optioned to Triple-A to free up a spot on their active roster. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
  • Shuts down Tampa
Rea (3-0) earned the win Wednesday over Tampa Bay, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Advice: It was a strong bounce-back effort from Rea after he allowed five runs on three homers against the Yankees in his last outing. Overall, it's been a strong start to the year for the 33-year-old right-hander. Rea's held opponents to one run or fewer in four of his six starts, lowering his ERA to 2.67 with a 1.22 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB over 33.2 innings. Rea's currently on track for a road matchup with Kansas City in his next outing. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

  • Giants option Landen Roupp back to Triple-A
Giants optioned RHP Landen Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Roupp, 25, has already appeared in 10 games for the Giants this season — posting a 5.27 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and a 12/8 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings. It shouldn’t take long for him to get another shot at pitching out of the Giants’ bullpen. Daulton Jefferies was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move on Wednesday. • Begins serving suspension Wednesday
Siri's (thigh) had his three-game suspension reduced to two games following an appeal and began serving the ban in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Siri was handed the suspension as a result of his role in Tuesday's bench-clearing brawl with the Brewers. He ended up being held out of the lineup Wednesday with a sore left thigh, and that game will count toward his time served for the suspension. He'll serve the final game of his suspension Friday against the Mets, but he should be ready to play Saturday, assuming the thigh issue isn't still presenting complications for him. • Angels designate Zac Kristofak for assignment
Angels designated RHP Zac Kristofak for assignment.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the week, but now he gets the boot from the 40-man roster as well to make room for Willie Calhoun on Wednesday. There’s a chance that a team in need of bullpen depth could take a flier on him on waivers. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
  • Starting at shortstop Wednesday
Brujan will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Brujan had been set to get the day off, but he'll be pressed into the starting nine at shortstop after Tim Anderson (thumb) was scratched from the lineup. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
