The rookie right-hander has a 3.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 76:14 K:BB over 65 innings across 12 starts this season.       Advice: Valdez did issue two walks, but he was able to keep the self-inflicted damage to a low roar while striking out four. The southpaw has gone seven innings in three of his last five starts, and he hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of those outings.       Fernando Tatis Jr. homered and went 3-for-4 in a 7-3 win for the Padres over the Angels on Saturday.

      Advice: Tatis Jr. got the party started for the Padres with a solo homer in the first inning off Alec Marsh. The 25-year-old also singled twice and drew a walk for a four-reach day. Tatis hasn’t been spectacular in the first 60-plus games of the season, but he’s up to 10 homers, 30 RBI and six stolen bases with a .772 OPS.       Alec Marsh went five innings while allowing five runs in a loss Saturday to the Padres.

      Advice: Marsh, 26, dealt with control and command issues in this one, as he allowed seven hits, three walks and threw 49-of-80 pitches for strikes. It makes back-to-back outings where the right-hander has allowed five earned runs, but he pitched much better against Minnesota on Monday than this outing.       Marsh (4-3) took the loss Saturday against the Padres, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Marsh has now dropped back-to-back starts, allowing five runs in each, after posting a 1.71 ERA over his previous five outings (26.1 innings). Overall, his ERA is up to 3.76 on the season with a 1.15 WHIP and 46:17 K:BB across 55 innings.       Tatis went 3-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 7-3 win over Kansas City.

      Advice: Tatis opened the scoring in the first inning with a 422-foot solo shot off Alec Marsh, his 10th homer of the season. The 25-year-old Tatis has at least one hit in his last seven games, going 11-for-29 (.379) in that span. He had his worst outing of the year against the Athletics. It’s the only time Sale was unable to complete five innings in 11 tries this year. His ERA increased from 2.11 to 3.06.
