    • Jon Gray fans seven in seven fine innings
Jon Gray held the Royals to two runs in seven innings and struck out seven on Sunday.

Advice: Gray got 17 missed swings today, including 13 on just 34 sliders, and walked none in another excellent outing. Since giving up five runs in his season debut, he’s allowed a total of four earned runs in 36 innings, leaving him with a 2.50 ERA. If history repeats, he’s about due for an injury... it often seems to happen after his stronger stretches like this. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this time around. • Quality start versus Royals
Gray pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Gray was tagged early Sunday, giving up a run in the first inning and then another in the bottom of the third frame on an RBI double by Vinnie Pasquantino. He finished his outing with four scoreless frames, securing his second straight quality start. Gray now owns a 2.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 39.2 innings in eight starts this season, and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday against the Rockies for a road matchup against his former team. • Out of Sunday's lineup
Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Moreno started the first two games of the series and will sit Sunday afternoon after going 2-for-7 with an RBI. Tucker Barnhart will step in behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:05 pm
    • Four hits in team debut
Arraez went 4-for-6 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Arraez wasted no time in establishing a good first impression with his new team, smacking a leadoff double on the second pitch he saw from Brandon Pfaadt in the opening frame before coming around to score San Diego's first run of the contest. The newly acquired infielder would add another three singles on the night, with the latter one leading to an eight-run seventh inning for the Padres. It marked Arraez's second game this season with four hits, and he's now registered at least one knock in seven straight. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 am

    • Can't escape first inning
Winn (3-4) took the loss Saturday in Philadelphia, allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch over just two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: In fairness to Winn, the weather in Philadelphia for this one was nasty and the right-hander never seemed comfortable. Granted, Ranger Suarez pitched in the same conditions and posted a quality start. Winn had been on a roll prior to this one, yielding exactly one run over six innings in each of his last three starts, so this could be just a little bump in the road. His next outing, unfortunately, is tentatively lined up to come at Coors Field. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:58 pm
    • Keaton Winn fails to escape disastrous opening frame
Keaton Winn was lit up for five runs and recorded only two outs on Saturday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Winn struggled mightily following a lengthy rain delay just prior to first pitch, departing after throwing 39 pitches (24 strikes) and recording only two outs in a disastrous opening frame. He gave up four hits, issued a pair of walks, hit one batter and failed to record a strikeout. It was a rare clunker for the 26-year-old righty after reeling off six straight quality outings to open the year. We’re happy to chalk it up to the extremely poor, rain-soaked conditions and willing to give Winn a mulligan here. He’ll bring a 4.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 28/12 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a tough road matchup on Thursday afternoon against the Rockies at Coors Field. • Luis Arraez collects four hits in Padres debut
Luis Arraez had quite the night at the plate in his Padres debut on Saturday night, going 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI as the Padres walloped the Diamondbacks 13-1.

Advice: Arraez led off the game with a double off of Brandon Pfaadt, then raced around to score the Padres’ first run on an RBI single off the bat of Manny Machado. He singled in the third inning and then added an RBI single in the fourth inning. Arraez also led off the seventh inning with a single and scored on an RBI double by Machado. With the four-hit night, the 27-year-old infielder is now hitting .315/.359/.392 with six RBI on the season. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:07 pm

    • Picks up first hold Saturday
Duran gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning Saturday to record his first hold of the season in a 3-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The right-hander got the call to face the heart of Boston's order in the eighth rather than being held back for the save chance, and he got the job done without issue. Cole Sands then worked the ninth inning for the save. Duran had only one hold last season along with his 27 saves, and Twins manager Rocco Baldelli typically favors set roles in his bullpen over playing matchups in high-leverage spots, so there's no reason yet to assume this is a sign Duran will see less ninth-inning work than expected. He's appeared in three games since making his season debut Tuesday, posting a 5:0 K:BB over three scoreless frames and collecting saves in the other two contests. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:56 pm

    • Sharp in win over BoSox
Lopez (3-2) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 3-1 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out eight.

Advice: Boston pushed across a run in the top of the first inning, but Lopez slammed the door shut after that, generating 19 swinging strikes among his 99 pitches as he tied his season high in Ks. The quality start was the third of the season for the right-hander, and Lopez will take a 4.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.
