    Kevin Newman picked up three hits and two RBI in a blowout win Thursday over the Angels.

    Advice: This makes two-of-three appearances for Newman where he’s picked up three hits, and it’s helped his average bump up to .272 from the .253 mark he carried prior. The infielder is capable of slashing the baseball around, but he just doesn’t do enough in other categories — and it’s not like he’s close the league-leaders in average — to justify a fantasy spot.   • Christian Walker homers twice in blowout victory
    Christian Walker plated four runs while homering twice in a blowout victory over the Angels on Thursday.

    Advice: Walker made it 3-0 Diamondbacks in the first inning with his roundtripper off Griffin Canning with a pair of runners on. His second homer of the game came in the third inning, and it traveled an estimated 464 feet. That’s fair. Walker remains one of the more underappreciated sluggers in baseball with 15 homers and a .480 slugging mark over the first 69 games of the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:14 pm
     
  • Andrew Vaughn homers, plates game-winner in 10th
    Andrew Vaughn homered and drove in the game-winning run Thursday against the Mariners.

    Advice: Vaughn and Luis Robert Jr. went back-to-back in the third inning to give the White Sox a 2-0 lead. He also hit into a fielder’s choice in the 10th that score what ended up being the game-winning run. The first baseman has now homered eight times in 2024, and he’s started to swing the bat at a much better level in June with a slash of .361/.395/.667 over the month.   • Soderstrom blasts fourth home run Thursday
    Tyler Soderstrom went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Twins on Thursday.

    Advice: Soderstrom took Joe Ryan out in the second inning for a two-run home run when Ryan hung a splitter. It was his fourth home run of the season. Soderstrom once again started at first base. Fantasy managers will have to wait for him to get more starts at catcher so he could gain some fantasy relevancy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:51 pm
     
  • Tallies two hits, steal in win
    Canha went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Nationals. He also stole a base.

    Advice: Canha extended his hitting streak to three games, and he's recorded a stolen base in two of those contests. That gives the veteran four steals for the season, and while he's not known for his speed at this point in his career, Canha did swipe 11 bases last year in 12 chances. He's a smart and efficient baserunner who can contribute a little bit in that category, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect huge numbers the rest of the way.   • Burger blasts sixth home run Thursday
    Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run against the Mets on Thursday.

    Advice: Burger’s home run was just his sixth of the season in 47 games after homering 34 times in 141 games last year. His .128 ISO isn’t even half of the .268 ISO he had last year. On the bright side, he’s 21-for-64 (.328) with three home runs in his last 16 games to bring his average up to .222. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm
     
  • Diaz has two hits in win over Cubs Thursday
    Yandy Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Cubs on Thursday.



    Advice: Diaz’ RBI single was the difference in the 3-2 Rays win. The defending batting champion in the American League is heating up at the plate. He’s now 17-for-50 (.340) in his last 12 games to get his average up to .260 on the season.

  • Hits go-ahead home run
    Donovan went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win versus the Pirates.

    Advice: The 27-year-old took Mitch Keller deep in the sixth inning for what turned out to be the game-deciding run. Donovan extended his hitting streak to eight contests and snapped a streak of 26 games without a homer in the process. He has gone 10-for-30 (.333) during his hitting streak and now carries a .248/.325/.380 slash line with five home runs and 29 RBI for the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:46 pm
     
  • Making another start versus righty
    Biggio is in the lineup at third base and batting eighth Thursday versus the Rangers.

    Advice: Biggio is getting his second start at third base for the Dodgers after going 1-for-3 in his debut for the team Wednesday. Thursday's start comes against righty Michael Lorenzen on the mound for the Rangers. With Max Muncy remaining on the injured list and Enrique Hernandez sitting versus a righty, it appears Biggio will be the primary option at third versus right-handers.
