• Saddled with second loss
Alexander (0-2) took the extra-inning loss against the Twins on Friday, allowing an unearned run on a hit and an intentional walk without recording an out.

Advice: Alexander's lighting-quick outing resulted in the culmination of the Twins' comeback from a pair of deficits, with the southpaw intentionally putting Carlos Correa on and then conceding a walk-off RBI single on his first pitch to Max Kepler that plated automatic runner Austin Martin. Alexander has now allowed a run in three straight appearances and taken his first two losses of the season in consecutive outings, so it remains to be seen if he'll be kept out of high-leverage situations for the time being as he tries to get back on track. • Undergoing knee surgery
Uribe will undergo surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Uribe landed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville last week with the knee issue and the decision has been made to go under the knife. Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said the extent of the damage won't be known until the surgery is performed, but "it could just be a light cleanup." The hope is that Uribe will be able to return later this season, but more will be known following the operation. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

  • Rough Marlins debut
Anderson (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Nationals, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in two innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Anderson held the Nats scoreless through his first two innings before unraveling in the third, where he allowed seven straight hits without recording an out. While it certainly wasn't an inspiring debut in Miami for Anderson, the 29-year-old right-hander could get another shot in the rotation with Edward Cabrera (shoulder), Ryan Weathers (finger) and Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) all on the IL. • Shaun Anderson roughed up in Marlins debut
Shaun Anderson allowed seven earned runs and 10 hits across just two-plus innings in a loss on Friday against the Nationals.

Advice: The Nationals jumped all over Anderson in the third inning with seven straight hits and 12 batters coming to the plate in total. This was Anderson’s first start in the major league since 2019 and he may have a chance to stick in the Marlins’ rotation as they’re strapped for depth despite the awful start. • Looks sharp Friday
Hendricks tossed 4.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Jordan Hicks departed after just 1.2 innings due to an oblique injury, which pushed Hendricks into action. The veteran responded well and had perhaps his best outing of the season, giving the Cubs some much-needed length out of the bullpen. While Hendricks still has an ugly 8.20 ERA overall, he's been better lately with 8.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. The veteran is the most likely candidate to move into the rotation with Wicks expected to land on the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:38 pm

  • Kyle Hendricks goes 4 1/3 scoreless in relief
Kyle Hendricks pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings after replacing an injured Jordan Wicks in the second Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Hendricks struck out just one, but he walked none and allowed only one hard-hit ball. One imagines Wicks will join Ben Brown on the IL tomorrow, likely resulting in Hendricks’ return to the rotation. That doesn’t make him a fantasy option, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he does a better job of holding his own this time around. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:05 pm

  • Marlins recall RHP Shaun Anderson
Marlins recalled RHP Shaun Anderson from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Anderson was acquired from the Rangers at the end of May. He made two appearances out of the bullpen with Texas earlier this year and had a 5.40 ERA in 3 1/3 innings. Anderson had a 2.45 ERA in two starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. He’s the scheduled starter for the Marlins on Friday against the Nationals. Burch Smith was designated for assignment as the corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:03 am
  • Recalled to start Friday
The Marlins recalled Anderson from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Advice: Anderson will start Friday's game against the Nationals. The right-hander's two major-league appearances this season came in relief with the Rangers, but he's posted a 2.51 ERA and 31:4 K:BB over 28.2 innings across six starts at Triple-A in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:16 am
  • Hit with first loss Tuesday
Alexander (0-1) took the loss against the Padres on Tuesday, allowing an earned run on one hit and one walk over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Unfortunately for Alexander, the one hit he allowed was a walk-off solo home run to Kyle Higashioka, saddling the veteran southpaw with his first loss of the season. Alexander has now allowed an earned run in each of his last two appearances after generating four consecutive scoreless efforts of an inning apiece, but he's still carrying an acceptable 4.00 ERA and stellar 0.67 WHIP across the nine innings covering his 10 appearances.
