      Advice: Lively was sharp for most of the contest and didn't allow a runner to reach second until the fifth inning when Nick Loftin walked, then advanced on a steal. Unfortunately for the right-hander, his luck would run out in the following frame after he surrendered back-to-back triples to open things up, which eventually led to two runs coming home for Kansas City. It marked Lively's first quality start this month and he's now allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven outings.     • Dominant in tough-luck defeat
      Sale (10-3) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings against the White Sox. He struck out 11.

      Advice: Sale dominated his former team, with a first-inning homer by Luis Robert marking the only blemish to his stellar outing. However, the bats failed to provide any support for Sale, and Atlanta suffered its third shutout loss of the season with each occurring within the month of June. Following an inexplicable blip June 1 when he allowed eight runs to the hapless Athletics, Sale has rebounded over the last four games by allowing a total of six earned runs over 26 innings, giving him an ERA of 2.08 with a 0.85 WHIP and 36 strikeouts during that stretch.       Berrios (7-6) earned the win against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over seven innings.

      Advice: Berrios had been struggling coming into Thursday, allowing nine runs over 11 frames across his past two starts. He rebounded nicely against New York, giving up just two runs on a fifth-inning homer by Trent Grisham. The right-handed hurler also registered a season-high eight strikeouts en route to his 12th quality start.       Ben Lively allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Royals on Thursday.

      Advice: Lively gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He continues to pitch pretty well, but the Guardians only provided one run in support of his effort. Lively has a 3.03 ERA on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the White Sox at home next week.

    • Berrios picks up seventh win over Yankees Thursday
      Jose Berrios allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Blue Jays’ 9-2 victory over the Yankees on Thursday.



      Advice: Berrios gave up two hits, walked three and struck out eight. The win was his seventh of the year and second in June. The eight strikeouts were a season-high for Berrios. His struggles with the home run continued as he has allowed a home run in each of his last five starts and 11 of his last 12 starts. Both runs Berrios allowed came on the two-run home run he gave up to Trent Grisham in the fifth inning. He has a 3.38 ERA and 4.34 xFIP on the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week.

    • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
      Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

      Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next. The right-hander retired the side in order in five of his nine frames and didn't allow a runner to reach second base outside of a leadoff double from Gavin Sheets to open the second. Stone has now won each of his last five decisions (spanning six starts) and has also posted at least six strikeouts in five of his last six outings.
