      Advice: Bassitt tamed one of his former teams, but reliever Chad Green gave up a walk-off hit in the ninth inning. In his longest outing of the year, Bassitt threw 71 of 102 pitches for strikes. He's limited opponents to one run or fewer in five of his 13 starts this season, pitching to a 3.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 70:28 K:BB through 73.1 innings.       MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer and drove home four runs in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.

      Advice: Melendez got the Royals back into the game with a three-run blast off Bryce Miller to turn an 8-1 deficit into an 8-4 game. He drove in another run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice. Melendez has been a major disappointment with a slash of .167/.233/.339, but the 25-year-old is far from bereft of offensive talent. Expect better things over the final 90-plus contests.     • Bryce Miller struggles over five in no-decision
      Bryce Miller gave up seven runs in five innings but didn’t factor in the decision against the Royals on Friday.

      Advice: Miller was handed an 8-0 lead, but he nearly gave it all back himself. The right-hander walked three while allowing eight hits — including a three-run homer to MJ Melendez — and he struck out just one in his worst start of the season.       Teoscar Hernández went 2-for-4 and doubled in two runs in the 11th to propel the Dodgers past the Yankees 2-1 on Friday.

      Advice: It was a scoreless game until Hernández delivered the contest’s first big hit off Ian Hamilton in the 11th. It actually gave him his first multi-RBI game since May 14.       Anthony Rizzo popped out with the tying run on base to conclude a Yankees loss and an 0-for-5 game against the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: The Yankees might want to give one of their outfielders a crash course at first base with Rizzo showing no sign of turning things around and Jasson Domínguez making strides in his return from Tommy John.       Oneil Cruz went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run against the Twins on Friday.

      Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in an 11-7 victory versus the Pirates on Thursday.

      Advice: Hernandez broke a 4-4 tie with a solo blast in the fifth inning, and Los Angeles never trailed again. The long ball snapped a 10-game stretch without a homer for the veteran outfielder, and after a hot start to the season, he's gone deep just twice over his past 23 contests. While 2024 hasn't been the breakout season that fantasy managers may have expected for the talented shortstop, Cruz has eight homers, 13 doubles and five stolen bases through 229 plate appearances.       Harvey (2-2) took the loss Thursday against Atlanta, coughing up three runs on four hits in an inning of relief.

      Advice: Taking the mound with the score tied 2-2, Harvey got two quick outs before the wheels came off, with the rally highlighted by Marcell Ozuna's two-run homer on a slider that caught too much of the plate. Harvey had been scored upon only once in his prior 10 appearances, and the long ball was just the second he's served up this season in 31.1 innings. The right-hander has been generally outstanding as the Nationals' top setup man, posting a 2.87 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB, and his 18 holds already has him one away from his career high.
