He spared the Guardians' bullpen in Wednesday's contest, but solo home runs by Cedric Mullins and Ryan O'Hearn were enough to stick Curry with the loss. The right-hander has struggled in limited major-league action this year with a 5.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB over 15.2 innings across four appearances (three starts).       Contreras didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Oakland, allowing one run on four hits with two walks across three innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: After coming out of the bullpen in his first nine outings as a Halo, Contreras was expected to get up to four or five innings in Wednesday's start. However, he threw 61 pitches across three innings before getting yanked. Three of the four hits Contreras allowed went for extra bases. On the year, Contreras owns a 3.82 ERA with 31 strikeouts over 33.0 innings. It's unclear if he'll make another start, but there's not many alternate options on the active roster at the moment.       Advice: Houser entered with the Mets up 10-2 and cruised the remainder of the way to notch the first save of his career.       Advice: Manaea was impressive in yielding just two hits -- both singles -- but allowed traffic in all but one of his five frames due to his struggle to throw strikes. The left-hander issued a season-high five free passes, but the Yankees bailed him out by grounding into three double plays. Manaea has been unable to pitch into the sixth inning in each of his past seven starts, though his shortish outing Wednesday was likely due to a fifth-inning rain delay after which he did not return.       Simeon Woods Richardson allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: Woods Richardson cruised through three scoreless innings before the Diamondbacks brought a run in on a double by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the fourth. A walk and a double in the sixth put two runners in scoring position in the sixth. Woods Richardson tossed a wild pitch that brought in a run and moved a runner to third before Gurriel Jr. drove in another run on a sacrifice fly. Woods Richardson struck out four in the win.       Hayden Wesneski surrendered three runs with seven strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Wednesday.

      Advice: All three of the runs Wesneski allowed came on a pair of homers in the second inning. With a runner on, Michael Conforto took him deep for a two-run shot to put the Giants on the board. David Villar followed with a solo shot to go back-to-back. Wesneski retired all six batters in the third and fourth innings before his day was done. He struck out seven.       Sean Manaea pitched five innings before a long rain delay on Wednesday against the Yankees. He allowed just two hits and no runs while walking five and punching out three in a win.

      Advice: This was almost the night Manaea would finally complete six innings for the first time since May 13th. Almost, that is, until a massive thunderstorm held this game up for almost two hours when he had thrown 77 pitches through five innings.       Zerpa (1-0) struck out one without allowing a baserunner over two-thirds of an inning to earn the win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

      Advice: Zerpa's had a strong season, but his overall numbers are skewed by a five-run meltdown versus the Rangers last Saturday. It was just the third time all year he had allowed multiple runs, and he bounced back with a sharp outing Wednesday to grab his first win. Zerpa is at a 3.41 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB over 29 innings while adding eight holds and a blown save. The southpaw saw increased high-leverage work in May, but the Royals have gone 9-14 in June, creating fewer opportunities for him to pitch in key situations.       Advice: Liberatore threw 85 pitches (54 strikes) in his longest outing of the season, which also earned him his first quality start. It was an impressive showing for the southpaw, as it was initially believed the Cardinals would be putting together a bullpen game for the nightcap. Liberatore had allowed three runs over his previous 4.1 innings entering Wednesday. He's now at a 3.86 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB through 44.1 innings over 27 appearances (five starts).
