The Reds will recall Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville to start against the Pirates on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Ashcraft had been one of the candidates to replace Nick Lodolo (finger) in the Reds' rotation, and it now appears the spot is officially his. Ashcraft was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the month after putting up a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62.1 innings over 12 starts, and he's bounced back nicely with Louisville, giving up four earned runs in 12 innings while striking out 12 batters and walking two. The 26-year-old righty will almost certainly make multiple starts during his stint with the Reds, but he'll likely be pushed back to Triple-A once Lodolo returns from the IL. • Starting nightcap Wednesday
Atlanta will recall Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett to start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: With Tuesday's game between Atlanta and St. Louis getting pushed back a day due to rain, Elder will get a chance to make a spot start during Wednesday's nightcap. The 25-year-old owns a 6.46 ERA and 1.94 WHIP through 23.2 innings across five MLB starts this season, and he allowed six earned runs in four innings during his most recent outing with Gwinnett. • Brayan Bello shellacked in loss to Blue Jays
Brayan Bello allowed seven runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Bello held the Blue Jays scoreless for the first two innings, but the wheels fell off in a big way in the third inning. The first six batters of the inning reached before Bello could get a groundout, but then a home run to George Springer chased him from the game. The right-hander did get six whiffs on 20 swings in his limited time but he threw on 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone and had no feel for anything on the night. After a strong start to the season, Bello has struggled over his final seven starts, and the loss of feel for his changeup, which has been his primary pitch in his young career, is concerning. • Bryce Elder starting Wednesday against Cardinals
Bryce Elder will start on Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Elder remains a non-factor for fantasy purposes, but the interesting wrinkle here with him coming up to take the ball for the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Busch Stadium is that it pushes Chris Sale back an extra day to take the ball against his former team in Chicago. • Zack Littell strikes out six in win
Zack Littell allowed two runs on four hits in five innings in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Littell also struck out six and walked one while registering 14 whiffs on 38 swings for a 37 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. His only mistake was on a two-run home run by Ty France in the fifth inning. That’s two straight solid starts for Littell, who has not pitched more than five innings since June 9th. He’ll take a 4.17 ERA into a start against the Royals next week. He can be started in most fantasy leagues for that one. Rotoworld Today, 6:35 pm

    • Pushed back in pitching schedule
Rea is no longer listed as the Brewers' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The Brewers haven't provided an explanation for the change, and Rea isn't believed to be dealing with any sort of injury, so he may just be getting pushed back in the pitching schedule so that Milwaukee can have him available to make a start against the divisional-rival Cubs over the weekend. Milwaukee has yet to announce a replacement starter for Wednesday's contest, but newly acquired lefty Dallas Keuchel would be available on four days' rest to take the hill against the Rangers if the Brewers choose to add him to the 40-man roster. Rea gave up a season-high-tying five earned runs his last time out Friday in San Diego but had rung up a 1.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over his five starts before that. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 pm

    • Logan Allen serves up three homers against O’s
Logan Allen was torched for six runs over three innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Orioles.

Advice: Allen was obliterated for nine hits, including three homers, and lasted just three frames in a back-and-forth slugfest at Camden Yards. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass. He’ll aim for better results his next time out on Sunday in a road outing against the Royals. Rotoworld Today, 6:27 pm

    • Cole Irvin hit hard Tuesday in loss to Guardians
Cole Irvin was lit up for eight runs (four earned) over four innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Irvin was torched for 10 hits, including a three-run homer by José Ramírez in the fourth inning prior to his early exit. He notched only one strikeout and didn’t issue a walk. He’ll face the Rangers on Sunday his next time out. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm

    • Twins prospect Matt Canterino shut down again
Twins RHP prospect Matt Canterino has been shut down from throwing due to right shoulder soreness.

Advice: Canterino hasn’t pitched in the minors since the 2022 campaign at this point after undergoing Tommy John surgery and a series of shoulder issues. It’s another tough break for the 26-year-old righty who was a second-round pick all the way back in 2019. Rotoworld Today, 5:59 pm
