    • Nails down 21st save
Finnegan struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over Arizona.

Advice: The right-hander breezed through the Diamondbacks' 5-6-7 hitters on 14 pitches (11 strikes) en route to his eighth straight successful conversion. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency. • Two hits, steal in win
Hamilton started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hamilton returned to the starting lineup after dealing with discomfort in his side. He started the scoring with a run-producing single in the third inning and later stole his 20th base of the season. Hamilton has been prominent in the team's recent transition to the "Running Red Sox," as the team has attempted 17 steals (twice caught) over the last four games. • Secures 15th save
Megill struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.

Advice: Megill needed just seven pitches (six strikes) against the middle of the Angels' order to close out this contest. He's pitched four of the last five days, but he's thrown just 12 pitches over his last two outings. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances with a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings this season. If Megill is unavailable for Thursday's series opener versus the Padres due to his recent workload, a potential save chance would likely go to Joel Payamps or Hoby Milner. • Trevor Megill secures 15th save vs. Angels
Trevor Megill struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to record the save against the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Megill was summoned with a two-run lead in the ninth to close it out against the Angels. He made quick work of Los Angeles, needing only seven pitches to put them away with one strikeout for his 15th save of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:05 pm
    • Struggles with command in loss
Gausman (5-6) took the loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Gausman allowed an unearned run in the third inning then surrendered solo home runs in the fourth and fifth. He was pulled after yielding an RBI single with two outs in the sixth and was charged with another run when an inherited runner scored on an RBI single off reliever Tim Mayza. Gausman generated only two swinging strikes on his splitter and has now allowed four or more earned runs in five of his 15 starts this season. He'll carry a 4.24 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 79:19 K:BB into a potential rematch with the Red Sox next week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:52 pm

    • Brenton Doyle brings home winning run vs. Dodgers
Brenton Doyle went 0-for-3 with two RBI against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: Doyle went hitless on Wednesday, but still had two of the Rockies’ biggest at-bats. He brought in the tying run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly. With the game still tied in the bottom of the ninth, he brought the winning run in to score with his second sacrifice fly. The 26-year-old outfielder is hitting a solid .271/.337/.402 with six homers, 43 runs scored, 23 RBI, and 18 steals across 283 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:24 pm

    • Shohei Ohtani drives in three against Rockies
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Ohtani stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the second inning and cleared the bases with a double to tie the game. He later knocked a base hit for his second hit of the game. The 29-year-old star is slashing .317/.388/.608 with 20 homers, 58 runs scored, 52 RBI, and 16 steals across 332 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:23 pm

    • Kevin Gausman unsteady in loss to Red Sox
Kevin Gausman allowed five runs - four earned - in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Red Sox. He struck out four and walked three en route to a loss.

Advice: Gausman never looked comfortable in this one. He allowed his first run in the midst of a two-error inning and then labored until being pulled in the sixth inning. He threw far too many fastballs in the heart of the zone and couldn’t get the Red Sox to bite at his splitters. His 4.24 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings so far this season have been disappointing. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:12 pm

    • Dodgers officially place Walker Buehler on IL
Dodgers placed RHP Walker Buehler on the 15-day injured list with right hip inflammation.

Advice: Buehler was hit in the hip by a comebacker during Thursday’s bloodbath at Coors Field, so it gives the Dodgers a viable reason to stash him on the injured list for a couple of weeks while he works through some of his struggles. Buehler has pitched to a woeful 5.84 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP over 37 innings in eight starts since returning from the injured list. Bobby Miller was activated from the IL in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:06 pm
