      Abbott (5-6) took the loss against Milwaukee on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

      Advice: Abbott navigated around a stream of baserunners to keep the Brewers off the scoreboard for four frames, but he put himself in quick danger by walking the first two batters in the fifth. That came back to hurt him in a big way when Joey Ortiz hit a changeup for a three-run homer, accounting for all the runs Abbott surrendered in the outing. It was the southpaw's second straight start of five frames after he went at least six innings in four consecutive outings between May 15 and June 3.       Andrew Abbott allowed three runs on four hits in five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

      Advice: It wasn’t a poor performance for the left-hander, who walked three and struck out three on the day. As is typical, Abbott didn’t get many whiffs, with just six whiffs on 43 swings for a 14 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. However, he also didn’t allow much hard contact with just an 82.3 mph average exit velocity allowed. He’ll take a 3.42 ERA into a game against the Red Sox next week, and his lack of strikeouts always makes him a bit risky for fantasy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm
       
    • Completes seven innings in win
      Rodriguez (8-2) earned the win against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings.

      Advice: Rodriguez allowed runs on an RBI double by Alec Bohm in the first inning and a solo home run by Edmundo Sosa in the second but rebounded with five scoreless frames to earn his third consecutive win. This was the first time Rodriguez completed seven innings in a start this season, but he has pitched into the sixth in all but two of his 12 starts so far. On the year, Rodriguez now owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77:23 K:BB and tentatively lines up to start next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:51 pm

      Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.

      Advice: Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win.       Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw around 30 pitches in a successful two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.

      Advice: He’ll throw another bullpen early next week and if all goes well with that session, it sounds like Senga will finally be cleared to face live hitters. He’s still going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Mets’ rotation, but he’s at least taking small steps in the right direction.       Senga (shoulder/triceps) threw a two-inning bullpen session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Senga was able to throw more than 30 pitches in the session and he's expected to throw a shorter one next week. The right-hander has been slowly working his way back from a posterior right capsule strain and then a subsequent triceps injury, and he's yet to make his season debut. Senga has already been ruled out for the first half of the season, but if he can build on Saturday's session next week, he'll remain on track to return relatively soon following the All-Star break.     • Fans six in Friday's loss
      Gausman (5-5) took the loss Friday as the Blue Jays fell 3-1 to the Guardians, giving up three runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander's velocity was erratic all night -- his very first fastball to Steven Kwan to lead off the game clocked at only 89 mph, but one batter later he popped 94.4 mph against Andres Gimenez. Without consistent stuff, Gausman wound up getting tagged for five extra-base hits, including a Will Brennan solo shot in the fourth inning. He was able to minimize the damage, however, and Gausman's now given up three runs or fewer in five of his last six starts, producing a 3.26 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 38:6 K:BB through 38.2 innings over that stretch.       Max Meyer struck out four and allowed two runs over four innings on Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

      Advice: So much for the whole notion from Marlins manager Skip Schumaker that Meyer would be returning to the majors “soon.” While Miami’s starting rotation continues to struggle, Meyer hasn’t exactly delivered dominant performances his last few times out. Still, he’s a vastly superior option than the cromulent journeymen the Marlins keep throwing out there. It’s only a matter of time before the 25-year-old top pitching prospect gets another shot after having his workload closely monitored in the minors over the last few months. His fastball/slider combo remains outstanding and gives him a shot at immediate fantasy relevance once the Marlins finally decide to let him pitch in the majors again.       Gil (9-1) picked up the win Friday over the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Gil struggled with his command, but he managed to limit Boston to a lone fourth-inning run. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed three runs in his last outing against the Dodgers, but he's held opponents to one run or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. Gil's ERA is down to 2.03 with a 0.98 WHIP and 96:39 K:BB across 80 innings this year. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:22 pm
