    • Yordan Alvarez diagnosed with right knee contusion
      Yordan Alvarez is considered day-to-day after being diagnosed with a right knee contusion on Saturday.

      Advice: Alvarez was pulled from Saturday’s battle against the Twins after being plunked by a pitch on his right knee in his previous plate appearance. It appears to have been a precautionary measure though as the Astros won’t even have any imaging done on their 27-year-old slugger. There’s a chance that he gets Sunday off to be on the safe side, but Alvarez shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence. Rotoworld Today, 2:20 pm

      Alvarez was diagnosed with a right knee contusion Saturday and didn't go in for imaging, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Alvarez was hit in the knee by a pitch in the sixth inning of Saturday's game and although he stayed in to run the bases, he was later removed in the eighth inning. Considering he didn't need to undergo imaging, the 27-year-old should be viewed as day-to-day.     • Logan O’Hoppe drives in two runs Saturday
      Logan O’Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in the Angels’ 7-0 win against the Cubs on Saturday.

      Advice: O’Hoppe was hit by a pitch in the first inning, then knocked a base hit to drive in a run in the third before scoring on a throwing error. He was credited with another RBI on a groundout in the fourth, then reached for a third time with a double in the eighth.       Alvarez was removed from Saturday's game versus Minnesota after getting hit by a pitch, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Alvarez took a 94-mph fastball off his right knee during the sixth inning of Saturday's contest. He initially remained in the game to run the bases despite looking uncomfortable, and Grae Kessinger pinch hit for him during the eighth frame.       Yordan Alvarez was removed from Saturday’s game against the Twins a couple of innings after he was plunked in the right knee by a pitch.

      Advice: Alvarez remained in the game to run the bases for himself but was walking slowly and hobbling as he made his way to first base. When his spot in the order came back around in the eighth inning, Grae Kessinger was sent out to pinch-hit for him. The fact that the Twins had a six-run lead at the time may have played a role in his removal, but be sure to pay close attention to his status after the game and prior to Sunday’s contest.       The Mets activated Diaz from his 10-game suspension Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

      Advice: Diaz was dealt an automatic 10-game suspension June 24 for the use of an illegal substance on the mound, and he'll now reclaim his usual role as New York's closer. The 30-year-old has been met with struggles this season, putting up a 4.70 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 23 innings, but his return will still provide a much-needed boost to the Mets' bullpen, which posted an 8.37 ERA while Diaz was suspended.     • Edwin Díaz finishes serving 10-game suspension
      Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the restricted list.

      Advice: Díaz has finished serving an automatic 10-game suspension handed down by the league after he was ejected back on June 23 for using an illegal foreign substance. The 30-year-old will be back in New York’s bullpen for Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the Mets’ bullpen recorded a league-worst 8.37 ERA during his absence.       Gausman (6-8) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

      Advice: Gausman allowed a two-run double to Luke Raley in the third inning, and that was enough to stick him with his fourth loss in five outings. This was his third 10-strikeout game of the year, as well as his third quality start over his last seven games.     • Kevin Gausman fans 10 in loss to Blue Jays
      Kevin Gausman struck out 10 over six innings of two-run baseball, but took a look Friday to the Mariners.

      Advice: Gausman had the swing-and-miss stuff going and took advantage of a lineup that strikes out more than anyone in baseball. The right-hander allowed only a two-run double to Luke Raley in the contest, but unfortunately that was enough to pick up the loss with Luis Castillo holdin the Blue Jays to just one run. It’s still nice to see a strong outing from Gausman considering how mediocre he’s been for the majority of 2024, as his ERA is still a disappointing 4.64 on the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:13 pm
