    • Resting Saturday
O'Neill isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: O'Neill will get a day off Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout during Friday's victory. While he rests, Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu will start across Boston's outfield. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • Tyler O’Neill gets day off Saturday vs. Yankees
Tyler O’Neill is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Yankees.

Advice: It appears to be a routine maintenance day for O’Neill with Yankees ace Gerrit Cole on the mound on Saturday afternoon. The -year-old slugger has started six of Boston’s last eight contests since last Friday. It’ll be Jarren Duran in left field, Ceddanne Rafaela in center field and David Hamilton getting the nod at shortstop in this one. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Adbert Alzolay (forearm) throwing bullpen sessions
Adbert Alzolay (forearm) has progressed to throwing bullpen sessions.

Advice: Cubs pitching coach Tommy Hottovy told reporters Friday that Alzolay is progressing well and will ramp up to facing hitters at some point later this month. The 29-year-old righty has been out since mid-May due to a right forearm flexor strain. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

    • Homers in second straight game
Steer went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Steer got the Reds on the board with a fifth-inning solo shot and later singled in a run in the ninth. It was the second straight game with a home run for Steer, who has 12 for the season and leads Cincinnati with 56 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 6:14 am

    • Doyle hits go-ahead two-run double against Royals
Brenton Doyle hit a go-ahead two-run double to give the Rockies a 4-2 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Doyle turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead with the Rockies with a ground-rule double that scored Aaron Schunk and Ryan McMahon and ultimately gave Colorado the victory. After being one of the worst offensive players in baseball in 2024, Doyle has shocked with a very useable slash of .274/.335/.436, and his .731 OPS is quite the improvement on his .593 mark in 2023. • Strong in seventh win
Castillo (7-9) allowed a run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over 6.2 innings to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Castillo earned his first quality start in four outings with this impressive performance. The only run on his line was a solo home run by Kevin Kiermaier in the sixth inning. Castillo is now at a 3.72 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 111:32 K:BB through 111.1 innings over 19 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Angels in a favorable matchup. • Castillo strikes out eight in victory over Jays
Luis Castillo allowed just two hits with eight strikeouts while holding the Blue Jays to one run in a victory Friday.

Advice: Castillo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a solo homer to Kevin Kiermaier to break up the no-no and the shutout. He allowed a single to Spencer Horwitz a batter later, but that was it in terms of hits. It was a sensational outing for Castillo which has been the usual for the right-hander at home; he has a 2.14 ERA over his last 12 dozen outings in Seattle. The road has been a tougher task for him, but for the most part, Castillo has been a strong option in 2024. This was an example of him at his best. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:13 pm

    • X-rays on hand negative
X-rays on Altuve's left hand came back negative following his removal from Friday's game versus Minnesota, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Altuve made an early exit from Friday's game in the eighth inning after taking a pitch off his hand, but he managed to escape the incident with only a bruise. It's possible he sits out a game or two in order to give his hand a chance to properly recover, but an extended absence isn't likely. The 34-year-old is slashing .387/.457/.516 with a homer and five RBI over his last seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:52 pm

    • Jose Altuve diagnosed with left hand contusion
The Astros got good news after Friday night’s victory over the Twins as the X-rays on the injured left hand of Jose Altuve came back negative for any fractures.

Advice: Altuve was diagnosed with a left hand contusion and is considered day-to-day. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him get a day off on Saturday to be on the safe side, but the 34-year-old infielder shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:50 pm
