    • Workload 'going to start dwindling'
      White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday of Crochet that "we're going to start dwindling his workload down a little bit," the Associated Press reports.

      Advice: Crochet already sits at 94.1 innings in 2024 in his first pro season as a starting pitcher. He threw zero innings in 2022 and just 25 frames in 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and his highest innings total in college at Tennessee was 65. Therefore, his workload being curtailed at some point was inevitable. Grifol didn't divulge any specifics in regards to pitch counts or innings totals for Crochet, indicating he'll be flexible start-to-start based on how efficient the pitcher is. The manager also didn't mention anything about Crochet being shut down completely at some point, although it's certainly possible that will happen.       Estevez picked up the save Tuesday against Oakland, allowing one hit with two strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Estevez's streak of eight consecutive perfect innings came to an end Tuesday. However, he converted on his ninth straight save attempt and hasn't allowed an earned run since May 20. While saves have come at a premium for an Angels team that rests 12 games below .500, Estevez has made the most of his opportunity and is on pace for career lows in ERA and WHIP.     • Carlos Estévez strikes out two for 15th save
      Carlos Estévez struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his 15th save Tuesday against the A’s.

      Advice: Estévez came up one batter shy of completing a closer’s perfect game; he’d retired 26 straight over nine outings before giving up a single to Tyler Soderstrom tonight. He then struck out Shea Langerhans to end the game. His ERA has dropped from 5.06 ERA to 3.24 during this nearly perfect stretch. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:38 pm

      Megill earned a save against Texas on Monday, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Megill hit a batter with two outs in his inning of work, but it didn't cost him any runs. The right-hander was able to notch his 10th straight successful save conversion -- he hasn't blown an opportunity since May 20. Megill has proven to be a more-than-adequate fill-in for rehabbing closer Devin Williams (back), as he's tied for eighth in MLB with 16 saves (in 17 opportunities) while posting a 1.85 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings.     • Tosses 5.2 scoreless frames Monday
      Crochet took a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing five hits and striking out six batters over 5.2 scoreless innings.

      Advice: Crochet was on his game with 16 whiffs and six punchouts against one of MLB's top offenses, but Dodgers starter James Paxton traded scoreless frames with him, and both hurlers had to settle for a no-decision. Crochet continues to impress in what has been a breakout first campaign as a starter -- he lowered his ERA to 3.05 with Monday's outing and ranks second in the league with 130 strikeouts.     • Trevor Megill records 16th save for Brewers
      Trevor Megill was perfect in the ninth in earning his 16th save Monday against the Rangers.

      Advice: Remember when it was Abner Uribe and then Joel Payamps getting saves for the Brewers. Megill didn’t earn his first until Apr. 25, so all 16 of his have come in a two-month span. Rotoworld Monday, 9:15 pm

      Garrett Crochet allowed no runs in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday.



      Advice: Crochet gave up five hits, walked none and struck out six. It was a pretty good effort considering he was facing the Dodgers, but the White Sox couldn’t score any runs to support Crochet. He was one out away from a quality start, breaking a streak of six consecutive quality starts. Crochet continues to build a potential Cy Young award case with a 3.05 ERA and 130 strikeouts on the season. There’s no doubt he’s been a fantasy MVP, though.       Estevez struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Estevez has not put a runner on base over his last eight innings, striking out eight and earning seven saves and a win in that span. A groundout moved the phantom runner to third base in the 10th inning, but Estevez struck out the next two batters to protect the one-run lead. He's 14-for-17 in save chances with a 3.38 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 24 innings. This is arguably the best Estevez has ever looked in the majors, which will boost his trade value, though he's unlikely to be the primary closer on a contender if a deal comes to fruition.       Duran (3-3) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one over one inning Friday, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Athletics.

      Advice: Duran served up a two-run home run to Shea Langeliers after being called upon to protect a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning. This was Duran's first blown save of the year -- he's converted 11 saves and added four holds over 24 appearances. The closer has a 3.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 23 innings.
