      Jeimer Candelario (knee) was held out of the Reds’ starting lineup once again for Friday night’s tilt against the Cardinals.

      Advice: It’s the third straight game that the 30-year-old slugger has missed due to the knee issue. There haven’t been any indications yet that the injury will require a trip to the injured list, but if it lingers through the weekend the Reds may be forced to make a move.       Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI against the Yankees in a 9-2 win Thursday.

      Advice: Guerrero both started and capped the scoring in the contest with an RBI double in the first inning and a solo homer in the sixth. The first baseman recorded his fourth straight multi-hit game, a span in which he's gone 9-for-19 with with three homers and 11 RBI.       Happ went 1-for-3 with two walks and a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3, 10-inning win over the Giants.

      Advice: Happ reached base twice via walks earlier in the contest, but it was his home run in the 10th inning that proved critical. The outfielder broke open a 3-3 tie with his 10th long ball of the year, and the Cubs held on for the victory.       Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.



      Advice: Guerrero Jr. started the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning and his solo home run in the sixth inning gave the Blue Jays a 9-2 lead. He’s hit a home run in four of his last six games and is 11-for-27 (.407) with 12 RBI in that time. Guerrero Jr. is hitting .289 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI on the season.

    • Trea Turner reaches three times in losing effort
      Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with three runs scored on Thursday in the Phillies’ loss to the Marlins.

      Adolis Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Orioles on Thursday.



      Advice: Garcia’s home run was his 15th of the season. It hasn’t been Garcia’s best season, but he’s showing what it means to possess a solid floor. He’s only hitting .219, but he’s still on pace for around 30 home runs with 15 stolen bases and run totals in the mid-80s. Even though Garcia isn’t repeating the monster season he produced last year, he’s still carving out a pretty nice year for himself.

    • Ian Happ blasts go-ahead homer in 10th vs. Giants
      Ian Happ hit a go-ahead homer in the 10th to help give the Cubs a 5-3 win over the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Happ gave the Cubs a 5-3 lead with a two-run shot off Luke Jackson to give Chicago the 5-3 lead and ultimately the victory. The 29-year-old had been scuffling as of late with just two hits in his last 21 at-bats coming into the contest, but he was able to procure his 10th homer and 41st and 42nd RBI in this one.       Advice: Candelario will get another day off to rest and recover as he continues to manage right knee tendinitis. The expectation is that he’ll be able to manage the ongoing issue moving forward, but if he’s unable to return in a couple days, the Reds might not have a choice besides sending him to the injured list.
