    • Plates three runs Friday
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in a 10-8 win against Arizona on Friday.

Advice: Merrill knocked in San Diego's first run on a groundout in the second inning and added a two-run triple in the fourth. The outfielder also put an end to a streak of three games in which he had struck out multiple times. Despite that recent stretch, punchouts haven't been a problem for Merrill in the majors -- he has a very tolerable 17.0 percent strikeout rate through 323 plate appearances. The rookie has looked every bit a capable big-league hitter, slashing .289/.321/.456 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 40 runs and 10 stolen bases through 88 games. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

    • Reaches three times in win
Happ went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Friday's 5-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: A day after going 4-for-4 at the plate, Happ remained hot. The outfielder also has eight RBI over the last two games, bringing his season total to 52. He had a career-high 84 RBI last year, and he could make a run at that total in 2024, particularly if he maintains his recent level of production for a longer stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 am

    • Alex Bregman hits three-run homer in Astros’ win
Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Friday as the Astros edged the Twins 13-12.

Advice: Bregman’s seemingly meaningless homer made it a 13-5 game in the ninth before the Twins almost came all of the way back in the bottom of the inning. It was Bregman’s first homer since June 3 and 10th of the year. At .251/.314/.403, he’s been essentially a league-average hitter halfway through his walk year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:53 pm

    • Slugs 10th homer
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks in Friday's win at Minnesota.

Advice: The veteran third baseman cracked a 404-foot, three-run blast off Kody Funderburk in the ninth inning for his first long ball since June 3. This marks the seventh season Bregman has reached double-digit homers in his nine-year career. Despite the recent power outage, the Houston third baseman has still been hitting well over his last 25 games, batting .295 (31-for-105) with 18 runs scored and 11 RBI. • Tagged with loss
Bibee (7-3) yielded four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Giants.

Advice: Bibee got off to a brutal start, coughing up three runs in the first inning. He snapped his streak of three consecutive quality starts with his shortest outing since May 8. Bibee went 3-1 with a terrific 40:4 K:BB in five June starts and was 5-1 over his previous 10 outings before Friday's loss. He now owns a 3.67 ERA with a 115:24 K:BB through 98 frames. Bibee's next outing is projected to be in Detroit. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm

    • Trea Turner smacks two homers in win over Braves
Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with two two-run home runs in an 8-6 win over the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Good things have come in pairs for Turner who’s two two-run shots off Max Fried gave the Phillies a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. This was also the second time in four games Turner hit two long balls and his fourth multi-hit game in five contests. Deuces are officially wild for Turner. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:50 pm

    • Goes deep twice
Turner went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: Turner belted a two-run shot in the fourth inning followed by another in the sixth. He's gone deep five times in 16 games since returning from the injured list, with four of those coming in his last four games. Turner has knocked multiple hits in eight of those 16 games, good for a .338 average. On the year, he's slashing .341/.386/.510 with 21 extra-base hits and 22 RBI through 49 contests. • Justin Steele throws complete game for first win
Justin Steele went the distance for his first win of 2024, pitching a two-hitting in a 5-1 game against the Angels.

Advice: The Cubs didn’t need to turn to their shaky pen this time out, as Steele finished off the Angels in just 95 pitches. He struck out seven and walked two for his first win in 13 starts this season and 18 outings dating back to last year, when he opened up 16-3 before going 0-2 in his final four turns and perhaps costing himself a Cy Young Award. Of course, it was hardly his fault that he was 0-3 this year coming into this one. His ERA stands at 2.95 after this one. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm

    • Ian Happ drives in two runs in Cubs’ victory
Ian Happ had two more hits and two more RBI against the Angels in Friday’s win.

Advice: Just like last night, it was again Happ and Seiya Suzuki, who hit a two-run homer, doing the heavy lifting for the Cubs offense. They both have .806 OPSs at the moment and, given the state of the NL outfield poor, legitimate cases for All-Star nods. Happ probably has the better argument, since he’s played in 20 more games than Suzuki. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm
