• Registers second save
Maton earned a save against the Twins on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect 10th inning.

Advice: Regular closer Pete Fairbanks was unavailable due to a thumb injury, and Jason Adam was deployed to keep the game tied in the ninth, so Maton got the save opportunity with Tampa Bay up by a run in the top of the 10th. He got the job done quickly, needing just five pitches to retire the side in order with the automatic runner not moving beyond second base. Maton has two saves on the campaign, but he's not likely to get frequent chances to build upon that mark, especially with Fairbanks expected to be ready to return Thursday. • Luis Medina holds Royals to one run in win
Luis Medina allowed one run with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Medina put together a solid start against the Royals, holding them to one run into the sixth inning. He tossed four scoreless frames before Bobby Witt Jr. brought a run in to score on a double in the fifth. Medina recorded the first two outs in the sixth and exit with one runner on base. He struck out three. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 4.71 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 13/10 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. He’ll take on the Angels in Anaheim on Monday. • Secures 15th save
Megill struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.

Advice: Megill needed just seven pitches (six strikes) against the middle of the Angels' order to close out this contest. He's pitched four of the last five days, but he's thrown just 12 pitches over his last two outings. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances with a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings this season. If Megill is unavailable for Thursday's series opener versus the Padres due to his recent workload, a potential save chance would likely go to Joel Payamps or Hoby Milner. • Exits with trainer
Altavilla was removed from Wednesday's game against the Athletics due to a back injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Altavilla seemed to be grabbing at his right side after throwing a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest, but manager Matt Quatraro said after the game that the issue was with Altavilla's back. The right-hander will be checked out by a doctor Thursday, at which point the Royals will know more regarding the severity of his injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:15 pm

  • Gives up six runs in no-decision
Feltner allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: Feltner has given up at least four runs in six of his last seven outings. He was on the hook for the loss until the Rockies rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning. His recent poor stretch of pitching has included four home starts, so it's not surprising he's struggled to find stability. Feltner is at a 6.02 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 73:22 K:BB through 80.2 innings over 15 starts this season. He's projected for a road start versus the Astros his next time out. Advice: Ohtani stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the second inning and cleared the bases with a double to tie the game. He later knocked a base hit for his second hit of the game. Ryan Feltner surrendered six runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Shohei Ohtani cleared the bases with a three-run double to put the Dodgers on the board. Freddie Freeman followed with a base hit to make it a four-run inning. Feltner worked through two more scoreless frames before Jason Hayward brought a pair of runs in to score on a double in the fifth. Feltner was done after five innings, striking out six on the day. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 6.02 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 73/22 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:22 pm
  • Phil Maton closes out Twins on Wednesday night
Phil Maton slammed the door on the Twins on Wednesday evening, working a perfect 10th inning to preserve a one-run advantage.

Advice: The Rays scratched out a run on a Royce Lewis miscue in the top half of the 10th inning, then Maton came on and made sure that it would stand up. He got Royce Lewis on a ground ball to third base, punched out Max Kepler and got Carlos Correa to fly out to left to end it — needing only five pitches (all strikes) to get the job done. Jason Adam worked the ninth inning with Pete Fairbanks (thumb) sidelined and picked up the victory in the game. For Maton, it’s his second save of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:57 pm
