Lopez (7-6) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 14 over eight shutout innings to earn the win Sunday over the Athletics.

Advice: Lopez retired the first 17 batters he faced before Lawrence Butler's sixth-inning single. This was Lopez's first scoreless outing of the season as well as his longest start, and the 14 strikeouts were a season high. He'd given up 14 runs over 13 innings across his first three starts in June. Even with this gem, Lopez has a 5.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 101:19 K:BB through 88 innings across 16 starts this year. Considering he's posted a career-worst 1.6 HR/9, it's likely a fair amount of his struggles have come from bad luck with the long ball, as the rest of his underlying numbers are in line with his usual level of performance. Yusei Kikuchi allowed four runs in two-plus innings on Sunday against the Guardians. He walked one, struck out three, and allowed eight hits in a loss.

Advice: The rain came at a great time for Kikuchi who’d loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning. He’s given up at least four earned runs in three of his last six starts and seen his ERA balloon from 2.64 on May 21st to 4.00 after this game. Lodolo was limited Sunday versus the Red Sox as a result of a blister on his left index finger, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Lodolo tossed 4.2 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out three batters against Boston. The left-hander was tagged with the loss, while the four free passes were a season high, which is likely the result of the blister on his throwing hand. Following the contest, Lodolo said that "the feeling for the ball was not the same," but that it's "not impacting him a ton," so it's possible he'll be ready to go for his next start. Skenes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings against the Rays. He struck out eight.

Advice: Skenes got off to a bit of a rough start, allowing two extra-base hits on his first four pitches, including a leadoff homer to Yandy Diaz on the first pitch of the game, but Skenes did not allow another run for the rest of his outing. The first overall pick in the 2023 Draft continues to dominate even as his workload increases, as he struck out eight over a career-high seven innings. He's now allowed just two earned runs and has struck out 23 over his last three starts spanning 19.1 innings. He also continues to display impressive control, having not walked more than one batter during any game since walking two in his first career start May 11. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Sunday that Jack Flaherty will have his next start pushed back.

Advice: Flaherty was excellent on Friday in a win over the White Sox and the Tigers simply want to give him some extra rest before taking the ball again since he’s been pitching through a lingering back issue.
