    • Set for bullpen session
Kershaw (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kershaw was shut down from throwing last week after feeling soreness in his left shoulder following a rehab start June 19, but a subsequent MRI didn't reveal any damage, and he returned to throwing Tuesday. If his bullpen Wednesday goes well, the left-hander could resume his rehab assignment in short order. The shutdown isn't expected to make much of an impact on Kershaw's overall timeline to return to the Dodgers, though that isn't likely to happen until after the All-Star break. • Fans seven in quality start
Skubal came away with a no-decision Tuesday, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings as the Tigers fell 5-3 to the Twins. He struck out seven.

Advice: While he mostly kept traffic off the bases, a two-run double by Royce Lewis (groin) in the third inning and a solo shot by Manuel Margot in the fifth helped deny Skubal his 10th win of the year. The southpaw did collect his 12th quality start of the season, and he'll take a 2.45 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 119:20 K:BB through 103 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati. • Clubs homer
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-2 extra-inning win over the Nationals.

Advice: Lindor got the Mets on the board with a sixth-inning solo home run off DJ Herz and came around to score the game-tying run in the eighth on a Brandon Nimmo single. The long ball was Lindor's 14th of the year, placing him in the top five among shortstops. He's slashing .249/.313/.446 with 56 runs and 15 stolen bases across 377 plate appearances. • Swipes bag in loss
Rengifo went 2-for-5 with one RBI and one stolen base in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Rengifo has six multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, a span that includes four extra-base hits and five RBI. The 27-year-old's strong hitting has helped him maintain a starting role at third base this year. He's up to a .319/.362/.448 slash line with six home runs, 22 thefts, 25 RBI and 36 runs scored over 68 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:50 pm

    • Lindor has two hits, HR in win over Nationals
Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a 7-2 win over the Nationals in 10 innings on Tuesday.

Advice: Lindor hit three balls over 100 mph on Tuesday, including a 101.9 mph double and a 100.5 mph home run that traveled 403 feet for his 14th big fly of the season. The veteran may have started the year slowly, but he’s hitting .315 over his last six weeks with six home runs, 26 runs scored, and nine steals in 35 games. That will certainly do. • Skubal strikes out seven in loss to Twins
Tarik Skubal allowed three earned runs and four hits over six innings while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Skubal pitched two scoreless innings to start the game but ran into trouble in the third inning. After striking out Willi Castro to start the frame, Skubal allowed back-to-back singles to Kyle Farmer and Manuel Margot before Royce Lewis eventually doubled to bring both runners around to score. He would later give up a solo homer to Margot in the fifth inning but returned to pitch a scoreless sixth before being pulled for Will Vest. Skubal has allowed seven earned runs over his last 17 innings pitched while posting a 21:4 K:BB ratio. The lefty didn’t get saddled with the loss in this one and will look to pick up his 10th win of the season on Sunday against the Reds. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:09 pm
    • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) set for Wednesday bullpen
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Kershaw was shut down from throwing back in late June after experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder, so it’s a positive sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again. The 36-year-old veteran southpaw is targeting a midseason return to Los Angeles’s starting rotation and appears on track to make it back at some point in August. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:16 pm
    • Jordan Montgomery hits IL with knee inflammation
Diamondbacks placed LHP Jordan Montgomery on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 29, with right knee inflammation.

Advice: Arizona had to come up with something here since Montgomery badly needs to press the reset button on the metaphorical console. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that injury occurred during a bullpen session over the weekend and he doesn’t expect it to be an extended absence. The 31-year-old southpaw’s Arizona debut has gone about as poorly as one could imagine with a bloated 6.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 45/23 K/BB ratio across 65 2/3 innings (13 starts). The hope here for fantasy managers is that some time out of the spotlight to work on things is able to help him get back on track. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:34 pm
    • Returns to throwing
Kershaw (shoulder) has started throwing again Tuesday after experiencing shoulder soreness last week, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: After being shut down for one week due to feeling soreness in his surgically repaired shoulder, Kershaw said he was relieved an MRI didn't reveal any new damage. The southpaw added that he received some shots to help alleviate discomfort and that he is hopeful the pause in his rehab will not push his return timeline back too much.
