    • Maikel Garcia leads off, shifts to second base
Maikel Garcia is back in the leadoff spot and playing second base for the Royals on Monday.

Advice: It’s the first time Garcia has played anywhere other third this year, but the Royals just called up a third baseman in CJ Alexander and have Michael Massey apparently limited to DH at the moment. As a result, Garcia will get to show his versatility. The return to the leadoff spot is also good news; he had led off throughout the season before being dropped to seventh on Saturday and eighth on Sunday. Considering that he has a .291 OBP, there’s no blaming the Royals for making the switch. Still, he remains a better bet than the alternative options to bat ahead of Bobby Witt Jr. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm

    • Loses hold of leadoff gig
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a base hit in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Garcia had made each of his first 74 starts of the season as the Royals' leadoff hitter, but he was dropped down to seventh and eighth in the batting order over the final two games of the weekend in Texas. His slide down the lineup comes while he's mustered a .152/.221/.177 slash line over 20 games thus far in June. The Royals haven't yet settled on a replacement for Garcia atop the lineup, as both Adam Frazier (thumb) and Nick Loftin received turns in the leadoff spot to close out the weekend. • Goes deep Saturday
Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run in Saturday's 6-4 victory against Milwaukee.

Advice: Kim hit a fourth-inning solo shot that gave San Diego a 4-0 lead. The shortstop also singled in the contest, giving him his first multi-hit performance in over two weeks. Kim is slashing .231/.338/.462 with three homers, 12 RBI, nine runs, two stolen bases and an 11:8 BB:K through 20 games in June. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:01 am

    • Ha-Seong Kim goes deep in victory over Brewers
Ha-Seong Kim crushed his 10th home run of the season as the Padres triumphed over the Brewers on Saturday evening in San Diego.

Advice: Kim tagged rookie right-hander Carlos Rodriguez for his two-out, 374-foot (97.5 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning — extending the Padres’ advantage to 4-0. Kim also singled and rode home on Kyle Higashioka’s two-run blast in the seventh inning, finishing the night 2-for-3. For the season, the slick-fielding 28-year-old is now hitting .220/.331/.390 with 10 long balls, 36 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:00 pm

    • Goes deep in loss
Tovar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Washington.

Advice: Tovar was stuck in a small 1-for-18 slump over his previous five games before Friday's strong performance. He put the Rockies on the board with a solo shot in the third inning, giving him 12 homers this year and four in his last 13 contests. Tovar is slashing .285/.312/.487 with 37 extra-base hits and 40 runs scored through 75 games this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:05 pm

    • Ezequiel Tovar homers, collects three hits in loss
Ezequiel Tovar homered while going 3-for-5 in a loss Friday to the Nationals.

Advice: The Rockies were able to pick up three homers off DJ Herz, and Tovar hit a solo shot off Herz in the third for his 12th homer of the year. The 22-year-old shortstop has put together a very strong first half of 2024 in his second full season with a .280 average, 799 OPS and 36 RBI. There’s massive upside for Tovar, especially when you remember his home park. Rotoworld Friday, 8:41 pm

    • Maikel Garcia gets a day off on Thursday
Maikel Garcia is not in the Royals’ lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: The 24-year-old is hitting just .145 in 16 games in June with 12 strikeouts. He does have four steals and 10 runs scored and is coming off a month of May where he hit .305, so this might be nothing but a brief cold stretch. The Royals will hope a day off helps him get back on track. In the meantime, Garrett Hampson will start at second base and hit eighth with Nick Loftin moving over to third base. • Ha-Seong Kim draws rare day off on Tuesday night
Ha-Seong Kim is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: It’s an extremely rare day off for Kim, who has started every game for San Diego since May 23. The 28-year-old is struggling a little bit over the last few weeks, batting .213 (10-for-47) with two homers and six steals over his last 15 contests. It’ll be Tyler Wade drawing a rare start at shortstop on Tuesday evening against the Phillies. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:14 pm

    • Gets breather Tuesday
Kim is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Philadelphia.

Advice: It's just the second day off this season for Kim, who is just 4-for-22 across his last eight games. Tyler Wade will receive a start at shortstop Tuesday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:07 pm
