    • Reds promote Austin Wynns from Triple-A on Friday
Reds selected the contract of C Austin Wynns from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: With Luke Maile (back) heading to the injured list, Wynns gets another opportunity to serve as the Reds’ primary backup behind the dish. He has only appeared in one game at the big-league level this season, going 3-for-5 (.600) with three doubles and an RBI. If he continues to hit like that, it’s going to be hard to send him back down when Maile heals up. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:51 pm

    • Back with Reds
The Reds selected Wynns' contract from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

Advice: Wynns was DFA'd on Tuesday but will rejoin the active roster Friday after Luke Maile (back) was placed on the 10-day IL. He'll serve as Tyler Stephenson's primary backup while Maile is shelved. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:05 pm

    • Stays hot in win
Moreno went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Moreno singled in his third trip to the plate before then swiping his first bag of the season. He added another single and a two-run double in his next two at-bats, giving the catcher his third multi-hit performance over his last four games. Moreno has also driven in two runs in three of his last four contests (dating back to June 21) and is riding a three-game hitting streak since returning from the injured list. • Belts homer in loss Thursday
Wells went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to Cincinnati.

Advice: Wells put the Yankees on the board in the fifth inning with a 423-foot solo blast to center field. Of the backstop's past four hits, three (two homers and a double) have gone for extra bases. Wells continues to split time with Jose Trevino behind the plate -- each catcher has started four times over New York's past eight contests. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:36 pm

    • Slugs first big-league homer
Rice went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Rice hit out of the leadoff spot for the first time as a major leaguer and produced his first big-league home run with a 407-foot solo shot in the fifth inning. The catcher/first baseman has some intriguing qualities befitting of the leadoff role -- he's demonstrated good plate discipline throughout his professional career and has a .360 OBP along with a 7:8 BB:K through 42 plate appearances with the Yankees. Rice's power is an asset too; he hit 15 long balls in 60 minor-league games this season after going deep 20 times in the minors last year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:31 pm

    • Sitting down Thursday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Wednesday's loss, and he'll get a breather for Thursday's rubber match. Austin Barnes will start at catcher instead and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:07 pm

    • Reds outright Austin Wynns to Triple-A
Reds sent C Austin Wynns outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Wynns passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will remain with Cincinnati as emergency catching depth stashed at Triple-A Louisville. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:07 pm

    • Outrighted to Louisville
Wynns cleared waivers Thursday and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Louisville, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old backstop was dropped from the 40-man roster Tuesday following the return of Tyler Stephenson but will remain in the Reds' farm system instead of testing his luck in the open market. Wynns has slashed .250/.309/.410 in 110 plate appearances with the Bats, and he would be the first choice to return to Cincinnati should Stephenson or Luke Maile need to miss an extended period of time. • Idle Thursday
Rutschman isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Rutschman will get a day to regroup Thursday after being held hitless in 13 at-bats over his last four games. James McCann will instead get the nod to start at catcher while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:12 am
