    • Tyler Locklear hits second homer versus Rangers
Tyler Locklear hit his second MLB homer Sunday off the Rangers’ José LeClerc.

Advice: Ty France’s return is just around the corner, but Locklear is making a case to stick around afterwards as a platoon DH, even if his 12/1 K/BB in 29 plate appearances is hideous. After all, he’s now tied for third on the Mariners with his two homers. Not truly, but you believed it for a second, didn’t you? Rotoworld 4 minutes ago
    • Leody Taveras goes 0-for-3 in loss to Mariners
Leody Taveras went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Sunday, leaving him 2-for-39 this month.

Advice: Taveras was a league-average hitter through two months, but this slump has him all of the way down to .211/.281/.322. At this rate, the Rangers might have to think about adding another outfielder prior to the trade deadline. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago

    • Luis Rengifo (wrist) expects to play on Monday
Luis Rengifo (wrist) told reporters after Sunday’s game that he expects to play on Monday.

Advice: Rengifo was pulled from Sunday’s game after being drilled in the wrist by a ball off the bat of Matt Chapman. He did undergo precautionary X-rays that ruled out any fractures though and was diagnosed with a left wrist contusion. While he wants to play on Monday, it’s possible that the Angels give him an extra day off to rest. He won’t be looking at any sort of extended absence though. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Cubs designate José Cuas for assignment on Sunday
Cubs designated RHP José Cuas for assignment.

Advice: The Cubs needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Ethan Roberts on Sunday and unfortunately, Cuas drew the short straw this time around. The 29-year-old hurler has made nine appearances at the big-league level this season, posting a 7.43 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 14/6 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings. He could pique another team’s interest on waivers. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

    • Miguel Vargas expected to join Dodgers in Colorado
Miguel Vargas is expected to join the Dodgers in Colorado on Monday with Mookie Betts (hand) landing on the injured list.

Advice: Vargas was just optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he’ll head right back with Betts heading to the injured list. Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said that Miguel Rojas and Enrique Hernandez are likely to see the bulk of the action at shortstop with Betts sidelined, but that Vargas will fill a role on the team’s bench. If he gets a chance at starts to hit though, it’s going to be hard for Roberts to keep Vargas’ bat out of the lineup. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Designated for assignment
Cuas was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cuas will now be placed on waivers and if he goes unclaimed, he'll likely remain with Triple-A Iowa. The right-hander has struggled to a 6.35 ERA over 11.1 innings in 10 appearances in the minors and he'll have to right the ship before earning another shot on the 40-man roster. • Shohei Ohtani homers twice in Dodgers’ win
Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June. He’s still fifth in the majors in OPS (.976), sixth in average (.309), fourth in homers and tied for fifth in runs scored (53). Rotoworld 40 minutes ago

    • Picks up second save
Pearson notched his second save of the season Sunday against Cleveland, retiring the only batter he faced to preserve a 7-6 lead.

Advice: Pearson came on in the ninth inning with two outs and runners on the corners, inducing an Andres Gimenez line-out to end the game. Pearson came on to relieve Yimi Garcia, who was forced to leave the game early due to elbow soreness. While both Yimi Garcia and incumbent closer Jordan Romano (elbow) are sidelined, save chances will be available for Pearson and fellow relievers Chad Green and Tim Mayza. The 27-year-old Pearson has compiled a 4.23 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across 27.2 innings, adding four holds and two saves. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

    • Rowdy Tellez goes 3-for-5, drives in two
Rowdy Tellez went 3-for-5 with two RBI as the Pirates topped the Rockies 8-2 on Sunday.

Advice: Tellez is up to .419 with nine RBI in just 31 at-bats this month. There still isn’t really any mixed-league value here, but it should be quite a while before he’s again left out of the Pirates lineup against a right-hander. Rotoworld Today, 3:25 pm
