    • Contreras (forearm) likely to begin rehab Tuesday
Willson Contreras (forearm) is likely going to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Advice: Contreras has made a rapid recovery from surgery to repair his fractured forearm, and what looked to be an injury that would keep him out through the All-Star break now appears to be one where he could be back as the Cardinals backstop in the next week. Keep in mind that setbacks do happen, but all signs point to the 32-year-old being a regular for the Cardinals much sooner than anticipated. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

    • Cristian Javier (elbow) moved to 60-day IL
Astros transferred RHP Cristian Javier from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: It’s a move that creates room on the 40-man roster for Luis Contreras. Javier will miss the remainder of the 2024 season and likely a portion of 2025 while he recovers from Tommy John surgery. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Avoids structural damage to knee
Winker, who is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, said an MRI on his right knee showed no structural damage, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker noted, however, that he's still dealing with some stiffness in his right knee, which he injured while running the bases in the first inning of Saturday's 4-0 win before he was pulled in the third inning. The 30-year-old said that he expects to be good to go after a couple of days of rest, and he'll benefit from the Nationals being off Monday before the team begins a three-game set with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. • Gives up first runs of campaign
Treinen (2-1) took the loss and was charged with a blown save Saturday against Kansas City. He allowed four runs on one hit and three walks while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Treinen had been dominant coming into Saturday, posting a 19:2 K:BB over 13 scoreless innings across 14 appearances. However, he struggled with his control against the Royals, issuing three straight one-out walks. It appeared Treinen might get out of the jam when he fanned Adam Frazier for the second out of the frame and then backed MJ Melendez into a 1-2 count, but Melendez put together a brilliant 12-pitch at-bat that included six straight two-strike foul balls before launching a grand slam. Treinen's ERA jumped to 2.63 due to the poor outing, but given his overall body of work this season, he should continue to be a high-leverage option for the Dodgers. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago
    • Takes seat for first game Sunday
Brown is not in the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Advice: Brown is in a bad way at the plate -- he's just 3-for-his-last-35 -- but regardless he should be back in there to face right-hander Chris Paddack in the second game of the twin bill. Daz Cameron will get the start in right field in the matinee. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Kepler out for first game of doubleheader
Max Kepler is not in the lineup for the first game of the doubleheader against the Athletics on Sunday.

Advice: Kepler is dealing with elbow soreness, and he’ll get at least the first game of the twin billing against Oakland off. It’s possible the 31-year-old wouldn’t be playing anyway with southpaw JP Sears on the mound for the A’s. Stay tuned to see if he returns for game two of the doubleheader. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Idle against southpaw
Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rosario will take a seat for the second day in a row while the Marlins bring another left-hander (Jesus Luzardo) to the hill. Though he's turned in an unremarkable .520 OPS thus far in June, Rosario still seems to have a hold on a near-everyday role against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • On bench for matinee
Gelof is not in the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Advice: Gelof will get an extended breather of sorts, having also sat out Saturday, but he will likely be back in there to face Chris Paddack in the nightcap. After breaking out to the tune of an .841 OPS, 14 homers and 14 steals in just 69 games last season, Gelof has struggled to a .558 OPS, five homers and seven steals through 52 games in 2024. • Monday return confirmed
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Turner (hamstring) will be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Turner has been on the shelf since May 4 with a left hamstring strain, but he'll rejoin the big club without requiring a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand after the Phillies came away from his recent workouts convinced enough that he's at or near full health. Once he's formally activated from the IL ahead of Monday's game against the Padres, Turner should settle back in as the Phillies' everyday shortstop, pushing Edmundo Sosa back into a utility role. Sosa performed well during Turner's extended absence, and Thomson recently floated the possibility of Sosa seeing some looks in the outfield once Turner is back in the fold.
