• Managing neck issue
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's win over the Rangers due to a neck injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The injury apparently surfaced during last week's series against the Angels, and it prompted his removal from Wednesday's contest in the sixth inning after going 0-for-2. Ortiz's ability to play through the issue indicates it isn't a serious concern, so he could be back in action Friday versus the Cubs following Thursday's team off day. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:29 pm

  • Joey Ortiz leaves game due to neck issue Wednesday
Joey Ortiz was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Rangers due to a neck issue.

Advice: Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy said after the game that Ortiz has been battling the neck injury for a while now, and that it didn’t occur when he ran into the tarp while chasing a foul ball on Wednesday. It’s unclear if he’s going to ultimately require a trip to the injured list, or if the Brewers will continue to take things on a day-to-day basis. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:15 pm

  • Scores three times, swipes bag
Stott went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, a stolen base and a walk in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Stott came around to score every time he reached base in Wednesday's win. The three runs tied a career high, and he added his 20th stolen base of the season. His 20 swipes are the third most stolen bases in the National League behind Elly De La Cruz and Brice Turang. Stott's slash line of .242/.337/.363 isn't overly impressive, but he makes up for it with the solid counting stats. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:37 pm

  • Takes seat after poor game Tuesday
Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets.

Advice: For the second game in a row, Torres was held hitless Tuesday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss, leaving him in a 2-for-29 slump at the dish over his last nine games. To make matters worse, Torres committed an error at second base and also didn't run out a grounder at full speed in the eighth inning, with the latter play not escaping manager Aaron Boone's attention, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Boone indicated that Torres is doing OK physically, but the skipper thought a day on the bench could be beneficial for the 27-year-old while he's in the midst of a rough patch. Oswaldo Cabrera will pick up the start at second base in place of Torres. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:16 pm
  • Leaves with apparent injury
Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went hitless in two at-bats before leaving the game.

Advice: Ortiz ran into the tarp while chasing after a pop-up in the top of the sixth, and though he initially stayed in the game, he was lifted in favor of a pinch hitter in the bottom of the frame. It's not clear yet what injury Ortiz might be dealing with, but the Brewers should offer more clarity soon. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:03 pm

  • Gleyber Torres (groin) absent from lineup
Gleyber Torres, who complained of groin tightness after Tuesday’s game, is out of Wednesday’s lineup.

Advice: Torres was criticized for missing a grounder and not hustling to first last night, though the groin seemed to explain the latter and Aaron Boone seemed more concerned about the former. Oswaldo Cabrera is playing second base tonight. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:01 pm
  • Joey Ortiz exits with apparent injury
Joey Ortiz left Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning with an apparent injury.

Advice: Ortiz might have gotten hurt running into the tarp while running after a foul ball. He finished the half-inning, but Andruw Monasterio then pinch-hit for him. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:55 pm

  • Bryson Stott scores three times in win over Tigers
Bryson Stott doubled, walked, stole a base and scored three runs on Wednesday afternoon as the Phillies triumphed over the Tigers.

Advice: Stott started the fourth inning by working Keider Montero for a walk and then rode home on Brandon Marsh’s two-run blast. He then doubled the following inning and scored on a two-run single off the bat of Marsh. Stott also reached on a fielder’s choice in the eighth, swiped second base and scored on a sacrifice fly by David Dahl. The 26-year-old second baseman finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now slashing .242/.337/.363 to go along with five homers, 36 RBI and 20 stolen bases on the season. • Getting afternoon off
Gelof is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Gelof will miss out on a start for the first time since June 16, when he was on the bench for the front end of a doubleheader with the Twins. While Gelof receives a breather, Armando Alvarez will be rewarded with a second straight start in the Oakland infield after banging out three hits in his first MLB start in Tuesday's 7-5 loss.
