    • Yusei Kikuchi will start in series against DET
The Toronto Blue Jays will start Chris Bassitt, Yusei Kikuchi, and Kevin Gausman in this weekend’s series against the Tigers.

Advice: The pitching schedule prior to the All-Star break was set up for Gausman to start on Friday, Bassitt to take the ball on Saturday, and Jose Berrios to start on Sunday. Berrios will now be bumped to next week’s series against the Rays, and Kikuchi will get two starts before the trade deadline as the Blue Jays try to showcase him for other teams. • Takes home All-Star MVP honors
Duran was named the MVP of Tuesday's All-Star Game after going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the American League's 5-3 win over the National League.

Advice: Entering the game in the top of the fifth inning as a replacement for starting center fielder Aaron Judge, Duran broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the frame when he took Reds right-hander Hunter Greene deep to right center. The two-run blast held up as the difference in the American League's win, allowing Duran to become the first Red Sox player since J.D. Drew in 2008 to take home MVP honors in the Midsummer Classic. Duran earned his first All-Star nod after slashing .284/.342/.477 with 10 home runs and 22 stolen bases in 439 plate appearances during the first half. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:40 am
    • Jarren Duran takes home All-Star Game MVP Award
Jarren Duran clobbered a go-ahead two-run homer to power the American League to a 5-3 victory over the National League during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Duran came off the bench to slingshot the American League ahead with a tape-measure 413-foot moonshot to right field off Reds ace Hunter Greene in the fifth inning, which was enough for him to earn him MVP Award honors. The 27-year-old outfielder’s metamorphosis into an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, tallying 47 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs, and 22 stolen bases through 95 games, has been a big reason why the Red Sox find themselves in the playoff race coming out of the All-Star break. • Mets activate Peterson off paternity list
Mets activated LHP David Peterson off the paternity list.

Advice: Even with no games Monday, the Mets had to activate Peterson after he was away from the team for the maximum three games. The left-hander will likely start for the Mets shortly after the conclusion of the break. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:59 am
    • Returns from paternity leave
The Mets activated Peterson (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Advice: Peterson was away from the club for its final series before the All-Star break against the Rockies, but he'll be back on the roster for the start of the second half Friday in Miami. The Mets haven't revealed their post-break rotation plans yet, so it's not clear when Peterson's first start of the second half will come. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:19 am
    • Corbin Burnes to start All-Star Game
Corbin Burnes will start for the American League in the All-Star Game.

Advice: We’re guessing he’ll just go one, but Burnes was the last pitcher to throw more than one inning in the All-Star Game; he worked the second and third behind Max Scherzer for the NL In 2021, giving up two runs and taking the loss. Paul Skenes was already announced as the NL starter. Rotoworld Monday, 1:09 pm
    • Can't escape disastrous fifth
Kikuchi allowed seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Kikuchi had no trouble getting through four innings and went into the fifth with a 7-0 lead that quickly evaporated. Kikuchi loaded the bases after allowing an infield single and two walks before Ketel Marte took him deep. Kikuchi was left in the game and could not help his own cause. He allowed another walk and a base hit before punching out Christian Walker for the second out of the inning. From there, Kikuchi gave up another run-scoring single and then hit Jake McCarthy before he finally was pulled from the game. Both inherited runners went on to score before the frame concluded. The seven runs allowed were Kikuchi's most in a game this season and he now has not picked up a win since June 11. The lefty will head into the break with a 4.42 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 117:26 K:BB in 106 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:12 am
    • Homers in Sunday's win
Henderson went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Henderson's power pace has dipped in July -- he has two homers this month, though he's still hit .275 (14-for-51) over his last 12 contests. The shortstop's blast gave the Orioles a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Henderson is up to 28 homers this season, matching his total from 150 games last year in just 95 contests in 2024. He's added a .286/.373/.584 slash line, 63 RBI, 78 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 18 doubles and five triples. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:52 pm
    • Rusty in season debut
Marquez didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks across four innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Marquez made his first MLB start since April 26, 2023, after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He threw 70 pitches before being pulled. The 28-year-old managed to keep the Mets off the scoreboard until the fourth frame but was hit hard in the fourth. He allowed five of the first six batters he faced in the inning to reach safely, including a two-run home run to Pete Alonso. Marquez walked Francisco Lindor with the bases loaded for the Mets' third run but was able to avoid further damage by getting Brandon Nimmo to ground out with the bases loaded and end the inning. Marquez has previously been a reliable fantasy option, but fantasy managers should proceed with caution considering the right-hander's lengthy absence. The Rockies will play six consecutive games at Coors Field coming out of the All-Star break, though it's unclear when exactly Marquez will pitch. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:27 pm
