    • Yet to resume throwing
      Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Verlander has been shut down for more than a week with neck discomfort and continues to progress more slowly than expected. The veteran right-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Monday, but it's too early at this point to know whether he will be ready to go on that day.     • Justin Verlander (neck) still not ready to throw
      Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

      Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break.     • Will get re-evaluated this week
      Weathers (finger) will be re-evaluated later this week and could begin a throwing program, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The southpaw is currently rehabbing at the Marlins' complex in Jupiter after being pulled from his June 7 start due to a strained index finger on his pitching hand. Weathers was having a breakout campaign before the injury, posting a 3.55 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67:20 K:BB through 71 innings, and if he gets cleared to throw before the weekend, he could still rejoin the big-league rotation before the All-Star break.     • Fans seven in win
      Bibee (6-2) picked up the win Monday against Baltimore, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings.

      Advice: Bibee allowed an RBI single to Ryan O'Hearn in the opening frame, but he quickly found his groove and limited an explosive Orioles offense to just one earned run. The 25-year-old is one of the hottest pitchers in baseball right now, notching seven or more strikeouts for the fifth consecutive start. During that span, Bibee has pitched to a 2.51 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP and a sparkling 44:5 K:BB over 28.2 innings.     • Tanner Bibee strikes out seven in win over O’s
      Tanner Bibee struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over six innings on Monday in a win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Bibee kept things rolling from a strikeout standpoint in this one, recording at least seven strikeouts for the sixth time in his last seven outings dating back to May 19. The 25-year-old righty generated 14 swinging strikes, with half of them coming on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a solid 27 percent CSW. He’s continued to lean a bit more on his curveball a bit more in recent outings, which coincides with the recent uptick in strikeouts, and he appears primed for a strong second half of the year. He’ll bring a solid 3.50 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 106/22 K/BB ratio across 87 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
       
    • Yu Darvish has sore elbow, won’t return Tuesday
      Yu Darvish is dealing with elbow inflammation will not return to the Padres rotation on Tuesday.

      Advice: This is a new problem for Darvish, who has been out since June 1 with a strained groin, but the Padres are hopeful it’ll be only a minor setback. Adam Mazur will take his place Tuesday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:58 pm
       
    • Dealing with elbow inflammation
      Padres manager Mike Shildt said Monday that Darvish (groin) won't be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday versus the Nationals due to "a little" right elbow inflammation, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Darvish had been slated to return from close to a month-long absence with a groin injury, but it's an elbow issue that will delay his activation even further. Shildt's wording would seem to suggest that Darvish is dealing with a minor setback, but a return to the rotation next week isn't guaranteed, especially after Darvish missed the final month of last season with a bone spur in the elbow.     • Yu Darvish may not return this week
      According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Tribune, Yu Darvish (groin) did not throw his scheduled pre-start bullpen session, “and his status is up in the air.”

      Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt said, “We’re going to see what it looks like and have something for you [Monday].” The issue is apparently not related to the groin issue that has kept Darvish out since May 29th but without any information on what actually did keep Darvish from throwing, it’s impossible to say if it’s good news or bad news that it’s not related to his groin. We’ll keep locked to the news coming out of San Diego, but fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues may want to err on the side of caution and keep Darvish out of starting lineups this week.     • Labors through loss
      Marsh (5-5) took the loss Sunday against Texas, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Marsh tied his season high in hits allowed Sunday and failed to complete six innings for the fourth time in his last five starts. While he didn't surrender a home run, the Rangers did tag Marsh for three doubles. All three runs against Marsh came in the fourth inning, when he allowed three straight hits to open the frame before yielding a two-out, two-RBI single to Leody Taveras. After posting a 4-2 record and a 3.24 ERA across his first nine starts, Marsh has put up a 6.66 ERA with a 1-3 record in June.
