• Yankees acquire J.D. Davis from A’s in trade
Yankees acquired INF J.D. Davis from the Athletics for INF Jordan Groshans and cash considerations.

Advice: Davis provides New York with some additional experienced infield depth moving forward after being designated for assignment earlier this week by Oakland. The 31-year-old corner infielder holds a pedestrian 670 OPS with four homers and five RBI in 135 plate appearances in 39 games this season. He figures to get some time at third base or designated hitter against left-handed pitching while Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is on the shelf. Rotoworld Today, 10:40 am

  • A’s get former top prospect Jordan Groshans in swap
Athletics acquired INF Jordan Groshans and cash considerations from the Yankees for INF J.D. Davis.

Advice: This is exactly the type of move a rebuilding franchise should theoretically make every time, exhcanging a veteran for a former top prospect recalamtion project. Groshans was a top-100 prospect just a couple seasons ago, but has fizzled out with a couple organizations lately. The 24-year-old infielder, who was the 12th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, holds a .590 OPS with one homer in 50 games this season in the upper minors. Rotoworld Today, 10:37 am

Sosa is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Tigers.

Advice: Sosa will get his first breather Sunday since June 13. In the eight games since, he's gone 7-for-30 with two doubles, one home run and four RBI. Danny Mendick will start at third base Sunday and bat eighth against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. Rotowire.com Today, 10:10 am

  • Struggling on rehab assignment
Marte is hitting .156/.156/.178 in 10 games at Triple-A Louisville, with no walks, no homers and 13 strikeouts. The Reds haven't yet committed to activating Marte when he's first eligible to return on June 27, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: For his part, Reds manager David Bell professes not to be paying attention to Marte's numbers as he continues to ramp back up. "We get process grades on every at-bat he has," Bell said. "Everything has been right on track." If Marte can get back up to speed, the Reds could really use him both offensively and defensively at third base, where Jeimer Candelario really struggled on Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am

Advice: Malloy will take a breather Sunday after starting in the first two games of the series, going 1-for-6 with a double and one run scored. • Not starting Sunday
Arenado (forearm) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Giants.

Advice: Arenado exited early in Saturday's 9-4 win due to discomfort in his left forearm. According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, Arenado received an injection to alleviate the pain, and the Cardinals are still waiting to see how the veteran third baseman responds to the shot until determining his availability for their upcoming three-game set with Atlanta that begins Monday. Brandon Crawford will pick up a start at the hot corner Sunday and bat eighth while Arenado rests. Rotowire.com Today, 9:14 am

Flores isn't in the Giants' lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Flores will sit for a second consecutive game Sunday after going 2-for-15 with a double and an RBI over his last five contests. Trenton Brooks will instead start at first base and bat eighth during the series finale. Rotowire.com Today, 9:08 am
