• Kyle Isbel homers, leaves game with back tightness
Kyle Isbel was removed from Friday night’s showdown against the Rangers due to tightness in his lower back.

Advice: The 27-year-old outfielder had slugged a 387-foot solo homer in his lone at-bat in the contest but was pinch-hit for the next time that he strolled to the plate in the fifth inning. It doesn’t sound like anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers should monitor his status over the weekend to be on the safe side. Rotoworld Today, 6:35 pm

  • Homers in win
Kelly went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 2-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Kelly's two-run home run off Erick Fedde in the second inning was the difference in the game, as the Tigers pitchers limited the White Sox to just one run. The homer was Kelly's second in four games, and he has registered a solid .267/.353/.500 slash in nine June contests. On the season, Kelly is slashing .238/.324/.373 with four home runs and 17 RBI over 142 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:33 pm

  • Homer, two hits in loss
Pham went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 2-1 loss to the Tigers on Friday.

Advice: Pham singled in the third then hit a solo home run off Jack Flaherty in the fifth. Pham had been relatively quiet since returning from the injured list June 14, going 5-for-20 in five games prior to Friday. The home run was his first since May 22, but Pham still owns a solid .282/.353/.410 slash with four home runs, 14 RBI and 23 runs scored over 172 plate appearances this season. • Luis Ortiz allows six runs in four innings
Luis Ortiz followed opener Cameron Mlodzinski and got hit hard by the Rays allowing six runs and 10 hits in four innings of work. He struck out three and walked one.

Advice: Ortiz pitched better than his line, which isn’t saying much. The Rays made a habit of squeaking singles through the infield and Jose Lowe burned him for two loud home runs. Even with this disaster, Ortiz’s ERA ticked up to just 3.45. His fastball and sinker each sit 97 MPH, his slider is nasty, and his cutter is coming along. Ortiz remains risky but could prove valuable in the second half. Rotoworld Today, 6:30 pm

  • Dodgers activate and option Kyle Hurt on Friday
Dodgers activated RHP Kyle Hurt from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler had already been pitching at Triple-A OKC while on a rehab assignment, but he’ll continue to build up there as he continues his recovery from right shoulder inflammation. In order to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster, Max Muncy was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 6:08 pm

  • Activated from IL, optioned
The Dodgers activated Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Hurt was originally placed on the 15-day injured list April 20 with right shoulder inflammation, but he was transferred to the 60-day IL one week later. He began his rehab assignment with Oklahoma City on June 6, and over his eight minor-league appearances, he's given up five runs on seven hits and 10 walks while striking out 16 over nine frames. To make room for Hurt on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred Max Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 5:59 pm

  • Carson Kelly powers Tigers past White Sox on Friday
Carson Kelly walloped a two-run homer off of Erick Fedde in the second inning, powering the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the White Sox in the opening game of their three-game set at Comerica Park.

Advice: Justyn-Henry Malloy had set the stage with a double into the gap in left-center, then Kelly followed with a 412-foot (103.9 mph EV) blast to left field that gave the Tigers an early 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish. That was the last good swing that the Tigers would have against Erick Fedde and company in the ballgame, but proved to be just enough. Kelly finished the night 1-for-3 and is now slashing .238/.324/.373 with four homers and seven RBI on the year. Rotoworld Today, 5:56 pm

  • Tommy Pham goes deep as White Sox fall to Tigers
Tommy Pham clubbed his fourth home run of the season on Friday night, accounting for the White Sox’ lone run in a loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Pham turned on a first-pitch changeup from Jack Flaherty in the fifth inning and tucked a 370-foot (112.4 mph EV) solo shot just inside the foul pole in left field to get the White Sox on the board and trim their deficit to 2-1. That would be the extent of the scoring in the ballgame. The 36-year-old outfielder finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .282/.353/.410 to go with four long balls and 14 RBI. • Confirmed to start Saturday
Plesac will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After posting a quality start his Angels debut, Plesac will get another go-around in the rotation as a fill-in for Jose Soriano (abdomen) who's on the 15-day IL. While Plesac only allowed three runs in his first start, he surrendered a pair of home runs and will face a power-heavy Dodgers lineup Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 5:01 pm
