• Contract selected
The Mets selected Jay's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Advice: The left-hander was called up for his MLB debut in April but was removed from the 40-man roster after making just two appearances. Jay has a 2.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB over 36 innings at Triple-A this season and will now receive another look in the majors. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Sent to Triple-A
The Mets optioned Young to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Advice: The left-hander was recalled by the Mets last weekend and made four appearances during the brief stint in the majors, allowing six runs on six hits with a 4:2 K:BB over 3.1 innings. Young has a 5.11 ERA across 13 outings with the big club this year. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Pitching well with Dodgers
Banda issued one walk and struck out two batters over one scoreless frame in Saturday's extra-innings victory against San Francisco.

Advice: Banda entered in the seventh frame and preserved a 6-6 tie with his scoreless inning. The lefty reliever has been excellent since joining Los Angeles in mid-May, posting a 0.98 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB over 18.1 innings of mostly low-leverage work. Those numbers are a stark contrast to the 5.69 ERA and 1.64 WHIP he caried over 118.2 frames across his first seven major-league campaigns. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • Records win Saturday
Little (3-1) tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Brewers. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Little retired the first two batters of the seventh inning, then made things interesting by allowing consecutive hits. However, he escaped the frame when Andruw Monasterio was caught attempting to steal home. The lefty then earned the win when the Cubs scored two in the top of the eighth to break open a 3-3 tie. Little has been back and forth between Triple-A and the majors, though he's been fairly effective when called on by Chicago, posting a 3.80 ERA and 26 strikeouts across 23.2 innings. • Scoreless inning in win
Okert allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning in Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Mariners.

Advice: Okert started the season somewhat slow with a 3.97 ERA and six walks in 11.1 innings in his first 13 outings. He's since posted a 2.57 ERA with just four walks in 14 innings since May 11. While his 8.5 K/9 is down from 11.2 K/9 last season, he's still been productive with a low 2.6 BB/9 and 1.11 HR/9. He's become a steady setup man for the Twins, but isn't used in many high-leverage situations to earn holds or saves. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 am
  • Career-high velocity
Alcala allowed a hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning Saturday against Seattle. He reached a career-high 101.2 mph on the radar gun, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: Alcala has been an impact setup man for the Twins since returning from his inexplicable demotions to Triple-A in May and April. Alcala has a 1.05 ERA with a 19:7 K:BB over 17.2 innings since returning to the majors in late May. Rotowire.com Today, 12:00 am
  • Handed loss Saturday
Lorenzen (4-4) allowed five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Orioles.

Advice: Lorenzen gave up a solo home run to Anthony Santander and a grand slam to Heston Kjerstad. This outing ended a few impressive stretches for Lorenzen -- it was the first time in nine starts he allowed more than three runs, and it also marked the first time in his last four appearances that he issued multiple walks. Given his success this yea (3.40 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:35 K:BB over 82 innings across 14 starts), it's safe to assume this was just a blip against a tough opponent. He'll look to rebound in his next outing, which is projected to be at home versus the Rays. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm
  • Spencer Howard obliterated in no-decision
Spencer Howard was obliterated in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday evening, giving up six runs on six hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. Howard came on after Erik Miller had worked a scoreless first inning as an opener. He gave up single runs in the second and third innings — including a solo homer off the bat of Shohei Ohtani. Howard was then gifted a three-run lead heading into the fourth inning where he gave it all back and then some — allowing run-scoring singles to Miguel Rojas and Gavin Lux before exiting in the four-run frame. The 27-year-old hurler got six swings and misses on 57 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He now holds an uninspiring 5.63 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over 24 innings on the season. • Michael Lorenzen gives up grand slam in loss to O’s
Michael Lorenzen went five innings while allowing five runs in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Lorenzen gave up two homers in the loss, and one of those was a grand slam to Heston Kjerstad. The other was a solo shot, as you could probably guess if you are decent at math. The right-hander clearly didn’t have his best command, as he gave up the two roundtrippers and also issued four walks against three strikeouts. Lorenzen still has a solid 3.40 ERA, and gets a chance to bounce back against the Rays next weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:15 pm
