  • Garrett Mitchell reaches twice in 2024 debut
    Garrett Mitchell singled and walked in three plate appearances off the bench in his season debut Monday against the Rockies.

    Advice: The single was hit 108 mph, so this was definitely a nice start for Mitchell. It’ll take consistent playing time to make him a factor in mixed leagues, so he’s probably not an option right now. He offers plenty of upside, though. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago
     
  • Brewers have no plans to use Sal Frelick at third
    Brewers manager Pat Murphy said he’s open to playing Sal Frelick at third base with Garrett Mitchell back, but that he has no immediate plans to do so.

    Advice: Before Mitchell suffered a fractured finger at the very end of the spring, it looked like the Brewers would mostly play Mitchell in center and Frelick at third, with Joey Ortiz serving as a utilityman. Ortiz, though, has earned regular playing time, and Frelick has totaled just four innings at third base since the season started.   • Reps at third base not ruled out
    Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that using Frelick at third base is a possibility following the return of Garrett Mitchell, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Frelick had been in line for regular reps at the hot corner before Mitchell was hurt late in spring training. However, with Joey Ortiz having since established himself at third base, it sounds like Frelick seeing action there won't be a priority.     Bryant (oblique) did some throwing and hit in the batting cage Monday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

    Advice: There remains no timetable for Bryant's return to action, but he does appear to be making progress as he works his way back from a left oblique strain.   • Returns to Triple-A club Monday
    Triple-A Reno reinstated Barrosa (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Monday.

    Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder missed about three weeks of action during his second IL stint of the season. Barrosa previously appeared in three games for Arizona in early April, but he'll likely stick around at Reno for the foreseeable future unless the Diamondbacks outfield is hit by the injury bug.
