      Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals that Rojas is expected to see the majority of the starts at shortstop while Mookie Betts is out with a fractured left hand, ESPN.com reports.

      Advice: Betts suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Sunday's game, when he was hit by a 97.9 mile-per-hour fastball. Fortunately for Betts, the injury is to his non-dominant hand and Roberts said that surgery won't be necessary, but the seven-time All-Star is still likely headed for a multi-week absence. With 760 career MLB starts at shortstop under his belt, Rojas gives the Dodgers a battle-tested option at the position who's a dependable defender, but the 35-year-old doesn't profile as a high-end fantasy contributor. He's been a solid performer when called upon this season -- usually as a fill-in starter against left-handed pitching -- hitting .278 with three home runs and three stolen bases across 116 plate appearances.       Christian Walker went 3-for-5 with a homer, double and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Diamondbacks in a 12-5 rout over the White Sox.

      Advice: Walker tagged rookie right-hander Drew Thorpe for a mammoth 432-foot (110.4 mph EV) solo shot in the opening inning that increased the Diamondbacks’ lead to 3-0. He then added a two-run double in the fourth inning that made it a 7-1 ballgame.       Jake McCarthy had a nice day at the dish in Sunday’s lopsided victory over the White Sox, going 1-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and a stolen base.

      Advice: McCarthy walked in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the Diamondbacks couldn’t cash him in. He then plated a run in the third inning with a fielder’s choice that extended the Diamondbacks’ early lead to 4-1. He tacked on a sacrifice fly in the fourth that made it 8-1 and then smacked a run-scoring triple in the sixth inning that gave the Diamondbacks a 10-run lead.       Schneemann went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored in Sunday's loss to Toronto.

      Advice: Schneemann took Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios deep in the sixth inning to record his first big-league home run. The rookie third-baseman has more than held his own since making his MLB debut on June 2, slashing .375/.483/.667 with one home run, five RBI and four runs scored across 29 plate appearances.       Astros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that Verlander (neck) could pitch either Wednesday or Thursday against the White Sox in Houston, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Manager Joe Espada suggested earlier in the day that Verlander could rejoin the rotation for the Chicago series, and Brown's comments help further narrow down a potential return date for the 41-year-old righty. Verlander was unable to make his scheduled start Saturday versus the Tigers after experiencing neck discomfort during his bullpen session Wednesday, prompting the Astros to push both Spencer Arrighetti and Ronel Blanco ahead in the pitching schedule. The extra rest appears to have done Verlander some good, as he was able to play catch prior to Sunday's series finale with Detroit.       Jorge Soler went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, four RBI and a walk Sunday in leading the Giants to a 13-6 win over the Angels.

      Brought in with a 13-2 lead in the ninth, Camilo Doval was charged with four runs in one-third of an inning Sunday against the Angels.

      Advice: Ouch. The Giants just wanted to get Doval some work after three days off, and he wound up allowing four hits and two walks. It’s the second time this month that he’s allowed four runs, though it wasn’t nearly as costly last time.
