• Cut loose by Miami
The Marlins released Garcia on Sunday.

Advice: As expected, the Marlins will absorb all the money remaining on the four-year, $53 million deal Garcia signed in November 2021 after no other team was willing to put in a waiver claim for the 32-year-old outfielder, who was cut by Miami last week. Now that he's a free agent, Garcia could attract some interest on a low-cost, one-year deal, but he may not have a clear path to an everyday role no matter where he lands. While operating in a reserve role with the Marlins for most of the season, Garcia slashed .240/.255/.380 over 51 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:00 pm

  • Keeps mashing
DeJong went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run during Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Red Sox in 10 innings.

Advice: DeJong has been on a tear across the White Sox's last three series, launching five homers in nine games, and Sunday's multi-hit performance was his fourth during that stretch. The veteran shortstop is amidst a bit of a career revival during his first season in Chicago, slashing .238/.287/.482 -- each mark of which would be his best since 2020. Rotowire.com Today, 5:41 pm

  • Homers, swipes another bag
Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run during Sunday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the White Sox.

Advice: Hamilton clubbed his third home run of the season Sunday, taking Chris Flexen yard in the fifth inning. He also scored the game-tying run in the ninth, reaching on a double off Tanner Banks and stealing third base before scoring on a sac fly by Reese McGuire. Hamilton finished the four-game series against the White Sox having gone 6-for-17 (.353) with four stolen bases, two doubles, a homer and three runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 5:32 pm

  • Marlins release veteran outfielder Avisail Garcia
    Marlins released OF Avisail Garcia.

Advice: The 32-year-old outfielder was designated for assignment earlier in the week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The Marlins are still on the hook for close to $25 million for Garcia and any team that want to pick him up will only be responsible for the league-minimum salary. Garcia hit .240/.255/.380 with two homers, two RBI and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 51 plate appearances with the Marlins this season. Rotoworld Today, 5:25 pm

  • MJ Melendez hits game-tying homer in ninth
MJ Melendez hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Melendez also had a two-run homer as part of a four-RBI game Friday. He’d seem to be in desperate need of the surge, though really, we’d argue that the Royals should have sent him down weeks ago. That’s not to say that he can’t turn things around in the majors — maybe he’s starting to do so — but he’s batting .165 and hasn’t had a multi-hit game since May 10. Rotoworld Today, 5:22 pm

Buxton went 0-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: Buxton went hitless but managed to reach base on a hit-by-pitch in the 10th inning. He recorded his third stolen base in five tries this season and his first since May 28. Buxton has had a brutal start to the month of June, batting just .115 (3-for-26) with one RBI, one run scored and one stolen base. The 30-year-old continues to start in center field for the Twins due to his defensive prowess, but he has not been a reliable option for fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Today, 5:21 pm

  • Jake McCarthy goes deep in rout of Padres
Jake McCarthy went 3-for-4 and clobbered his third home run of the season on Sunday, powering the Diamondbacks in their 9-3 rout over the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: McCarthy capped off a six-run rally in the second inning with his 351-foot (94.9 mph EV) two-run shot off of Padres’ starter Adam Mazur. The speedy 26-year-old outfielder also singled twice and drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in four of his five plate appearances. He has been swinging a hot bat in recent weeks and is now slashing .282/.368/.401 with three long balls, 15 RBI and nine stolen bases on the year. Rotoworld Today, 5:21 pm
  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drives in two in win over Pads
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBI on Sunday as the Diamondbacks throttled the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder smacked a two-run double off of Adam Mazur in the second inning and rode home on Jake McCarthy’s two-run blast. He also singled in the fourth inning and raced around to score on a two-out RBI single by Eugenio Suarez. With his two-hit attack, Gurriel is now hitting .247/.287/.405 with nine homers, 39 RBI and three swipes on the season. Rotoworld Today, 5:21 pm
  • Jurickson Profar leaves the yard in loss Sunday
Jurickson Profar socked his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday afternoon in a lopsided loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder continued his hot-hitting ways, crushing a 384-foot (102.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Tommy Henry in the third inning, pulling the Padres to within four runs at 7-3. That would be as close as they would get. Profar also singled in the contest, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He’s now slashing an unbelievable .325/.420/.504 with 10 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 5:21 pm
