• Returns to lineup
Isbel (face) will start in center field and bat ninth in Tuesday's game in Minnesota.

Advice: Isbel missed two games after fouling a ball off his face over the weekend, but he's feeling well enough to take part in Tuesday's contest. The 27-year-old has just a .599 OPS this season as the Royals' primary center fielder. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:20 pm
  • Collects hit in return
Abreu went 1-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: Abreu was back in the lineup for the first time in a month and hit eighth while playing first base. He had a rough start to the game defensively, misplaying a line drive off the bat of J.P. Crawford. However, Abreu made up for that with an RBI single in the fifth frame. The Astros seemingly plan to give Abreu regular run at first base, though he'll still need to outperform Jon Singleton unless they're willing to play Yordan Alvarez more regularly in left field at the expense of Chas McCormick. • Swipes another pair of bags Monday
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a run and two stolen bases in Monday's 3-2 victory over Houston.

Advice: Rodriguez scored Seattle's second run in the first inning and padded his stat line with a pair of steals in the seventh. The star outfielder has four thefts over his past two contests following a 16-game stretch without any steals from May 9 to May 25. Though he's been pretty quiet with a .265/.309/.342 slash line on the season, Rodriguez has built some momentum in going 6-for-13 with two homers, five RBI, four runs and four stolen bases over his past three games. • Back in big leagues
The Astros recalled Abreu from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Astros sent Abreu to the minors in late April following a disastrous .099/.156/.113 start to the season with the hope that he could rediscover his swing. He went 7-for-22 with two doubles, one home run and three RBI across five games with the Florida Complex League Astros before going hitless in two games with Sugar Land. The 37-year-old Abreu is starting at first base and batting eighth for Houston in Monday's game in Seattle. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:02 pm
  • Astros bring back Abreu, demote Loperfido
Astros recalled 1B José Abreu from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Abreu was deemed ready to return after going 0-for-7 with three strikeouts and one walk in two Triple-A games. Maybe he’ll be OK for the Astros, but it’s hard to see him being much better than that, given how he’s performed since the start of 2023 (.221/.280/.352 in 671 PA). Jon Singleton will head back to the bench for now. In spite of a .333 average during his time in the majors, Joey Loperfido was sent down to make room for Abreu. Rotoworld Monday, 2:52 pm
  • Bryson Stott gets a day off on Monday
Bryson Stott is not in the lineup for the Phillies game against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: It’s a routine day off for Stott, which was a decision made easier by the Giants starting left-hander Blake Snell. Edmundo Sosa will move up to sixth in the lineup while Whit Merrifield will play second base and hit seventh. Cristian Pache will also start in left field with Brandon Marsh sitting against the lefty. Rotoworld Monday, 11:19 am
  • Sitting against left-hander
Stott is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Francisco.

Advice: The Giants are starting reigning National League Cy Young winner and southpaw Blake Snell on Monday, so the left-handed hitting Stott will receive a day off. Whit Merrifield will handle second base for the Phillies. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:17 am
  • Picks up first steal
Herrera went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Herrera is in a bit of a slump, having gone 1-for-12 with four walks and four strikeouts over his last five games. The catcher's steal Sunday was the first of his career. He's added a .262/.336/.355 slash line with three home runs, 15 RBI and 14 runs scored over 122 plate appearances this season. Herrera continues to occupy a starting role behind the dish with Pedro Pages as backup while Willson Contreras (forearm) is likely out until mid-July. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:22 am
  • Kyle Isbel remains out of the lineup on Monday
Kyle Isbel (face) is not in the Royals lineup on Monday.

Advice: Isbel fouled a ball off his face in Saturday’s game and has now missed two straight games. There’s no indication that he’ll be out for an extended period of time, but he’s also just 11-for-52 (.212) in 17 games in May. Dairon Blanco will start in his place on Monday, and if the Royals ever decided to give Blanco regular playing time over Isbel, his speed would be a major difference-maker in fantasy leagues.
