    • Corbin Burnes starting Friday against Rangers
Corbin Burnes will start Friday’s series opener against the Rangers.

Advice: Fresh off a scoreless start earlier this week for the American League during the Midsummer Classic, Burnes will take the ball for the Orioles’ second-half opener at Globe Life Field. It’ll be Grayson Rodriguez and Dean Kremer taking the ball over the weekend down in Texas. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Justin Steele kicking off second half on Friday
Justin Steele will start Friday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: No surprise here as the Cubs will hand the ball to their ace following a stellar first half where he posted a pristine 2.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 81/18 K/BB ratio across 86 1/3 innings (14 starts). The 29-year-old lefty would’ve been an obvious All-Star Game selection had he not missed a handful of starts due to an early-season hamstring injury. It’ll be Kyle Hendricks and Shota Imanaga, fresh off a scoreless appearance earlier this week in the Midsummer Classic, taking the ball over the weekend against the Diamondbacks. • Emmanuel Clase collects save in All-Star Game
Emmanuel Clase fired a scoreless ninth inning to collect the save during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame of the Midsummer Classic and needed just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to preserve the victory. The hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander made quite a statement in his third straight All-Star Game appearance, striking out Pete Alonso to open the frame before retiring Elly De La Cruz on a ground out to second base. Padres rookie Jackson Merrill managed to get on-base with an infield single before he struck out Bryan Reynolds to slam the door. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:54 pm

    • Corbin Burnes to start All-Star Game
Corbin Burnes will start for the American League in the All-Star Game.

Advice: We’re guessing he’ll just go one, but Burnes was the last pitcher to throw more than one inning in the All-Star Game; he worked the second and third behind Max Scherzer for the NL In 2021, giving up two runs and taking the loss. Paul Skenes was already announced as the NL starter. Rotoworld Monday, 1:09 pm

    • Closes door for sixth save
Green picked up a four out save in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks. He allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless outing.

Advice: Green was able to help the Blue Jays hang on to the win after they blew a seven-run lead in the fifth. He allowed a two-out single to Christian Walker to put the tying run on base but was able to get Corbin Carroll to fly out to end the game. Green now has piled on four of his six saves this month despite allowing runs in three of his seven appearances. He'll head into the break boasting a sparkling 2.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 26 innings so far this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:20 am

    • Homers as part of three hit day
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After surrendering a 7-0 lead in the fifth, Guerrero swung the momentum back in the Blue Jays direction with a monstrous solo home run to center field in the seventh to put his team back up 8-7 and the score would hold there. The home run was his first this month and his eighth three-hit performance of the year. After a blistering end to June, Guerrero has cooled off a bit in July and is slashing .229/.250/.354 with his one homer, eight RBI and seven runs scored in 50 plate appearances. He'll head into the break slashing .288/.359/.456 and leads the Blue Jays in home runs (14), RBI (55) and runs scored (47) among other batting categories. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:59 am
    • Takes loss Sunday
Duran (5-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

Advice: Duran gave up a triple to Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, and it turned into a run after Brooks Lee's relay throw ended up in the dugout. It's a tough way for Duran to take a loss, which also ended his 7.2-inning scoreless streak, but it won't hurt his ERA, which remains at 2.93 to go with a 0.98 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings. Since Duran was pitching in a tied game before giving up the run, he also will avoid taking his second blown save of the year, and his status as the Twins' primary closer is not in question. • Jhoan Duran takes loss on error in ninth
Jhoan Duran took a loss after giving up a triple to the only batter he faced Sunday against the ninth.

Advice: Opening the bottom of the ninth in a tie game, Duran gave up a well-placed 88.8 mph flyball to the right-center gap. Mike Yastrzemski tried stretching the hit into a triple, and relay man Brooks Lee threw the ball into the dugout to end the game. The run was unearned, of course. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:21 pm

    • Returning for Minnesota series
Wheeler (back) played catch in the outfield Sunday and is expected to make his next start for the Phillies on July 22 or 23 versus the Twins in Minnesota, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: A bout with back spasms caused Wheeler to miss out on a start in the Phillies' final game before the All-Star break Sunday versus the Athletics, and it'll also prevent from making his second appearance in the Midsummer Classic on Tuesday. However, the back issue wasn't significant enough to force Wheeler to the injured list, and if he continues to remain free of setbacks in his throwing sessions over the next week, he should be ready to take the hill July 22 or 23 without any restrictions. With a 10-4 record, 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through 116.2 innings over his 16 outings on the season, Wheeler had been a leading candidate to start for the National League in the All-Star Game, but those duties will now fall to Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes.
