    • Woods Richardson allows three earned vs. Tigers
Simeon Woods Richardson allowed four hits and three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings while striking out four in Tuesday’s win over the Tigers.

Advice: Woods Richardson pitched four scoreless frames to kick off the game before giving up home runs to Justyn-Henry Malloy and Ryan Kreidler in the fifth inning. He would return to pitch part of the sixth inning but was pulled in favor of Jorge Alcala after walking Colt Keith. Woods Richardson has allowed three earned runs or less in each of his last three outings and will look to pick up his fourth win of the season on Sunday against the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 7:08 pm
    • Manaea allows one run in no decision
Sean Manaea allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in seven innings in a no-decision against the Nationals.

Advice: Manaea struck out five and walked two on the day to lower his ERA to 3.67. While the surface-level stats are good, Manaea got just nine whiffs on 47 swings for a 19 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW. He filled up the strike zone with his sinker but struggled to throw his other pitches in the zone with each of them getting under a 50 percent zone rate. You can’t argue the results, but there doesn’t seem to be much in the arsenal that suggests Manaea is a much different pitcher this season; however, he could be a solid streamer against the Pirates this weekend. • Carrasco pitches to quality start in no decision
Carlos Carrasco allowed three runs on four hits in six innings in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: The veteran also struck out seven and walked one while posting a 26 percent whiff rate and 31 percent CSW. After a solo home run by Andrew Vaughn in the first inning, Carrasco was cruising until the start of the sixth when he allowed a single and a home run to Luis Robert Jr. The veteran has a 5.21 ERA on the season, and this feels a little bit like an effort fueled by a poor opponent. He should not be streamed against the Giants this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 6:21 pm

    • Flexen hit hard in no decision
Chris Flexen allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Guardians on Tuesday.

Advice: Flexen struck out three and walked one on the day. He allowed eight hard-hit baseballs including two home runs, which accounted for four of the Guardians’ runs. He did earn 13 whiffs on 54 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate and a 26 percent CSW. With a 5.08 ERA on the year, Flexen is not to be trusted in fantasy leagues and will be a risky stream even against the Marlins this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 6:17 pm

    • Pitching behind opener
Nelson will pitch behind opener Joe Mantiply against the Dodgers on Tuesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Nelson surrendered six runs over 3.2 frames his last time out versus Minnesota, and he'll work behind an opener Tuesday for the second time this season. The right-hander has a 5.69 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB across 68 innings this year. Rotowire.com Today, 2:53 pm
    • Making next start Tuesday
Birdsong is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday in Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The banged-up Giants have only two members of their Opening Day rotation (Logan Webb and Jordan Hicks) available at the moment, so San Francisco should have a spot available for Birdsong until at least three of Kyle Harrison (ankle), Blake Snell (groin), Alex Cobb (hip), Robbie Ray (elbow) and Keaton Winn (elbow) come back from the injured list. After being expedited to the big leagues last week following just two starts at Triple-A Sacramento, Birdsong demonstrated shaky command in his MLB debut against the Cubs on Wednesday, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. On a positive note, Birdsong induced nine swings and misses and finished with five punchouts. His long-term outlook remains promising, but Birdsong shapes up as a risky fantasy option heading into what will likely be a two-start week. After facing off against Atlanta, the 23-year-old right-hander lines up for another turn Sunday in Cleveland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:02 pm
    • First MLB start coming Tuesday
Mercado is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Just as Rob Thomson suggested would be the case shortly before Spencer Turnbull's (lat) placement on the 15-day injured list Thursday, Mercado is the next man up in the Philadelphia rotation. He should stick around as the Phillies' No. 5 starter at least until Taijuan Walker (finger) is ready to come off the IL, as Turnbull is projected to miss 6-to-8 weeks and won't factor into the rotation mix anytime soon. The 25-year-old Mercado made his a one-inning relief appearance in his MLB debut last week, but he had been operating as a starter at Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to his June 23 call-up and shouldn't be facing any major restrictions with his pitch count Tuesday. Mercado -- who has posted a 1.71 ERA and 44:23 K:BB in 47.1 innings at Triple-A this season -- lines up for a two-start week, with his second outing set to come next Sunday in Atlanta. • Shohei Ohtani goes 0-for-5 in loss to Giants
Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts on Sunday in the Dodgers’ blowout loss to the Giants.

Advice: We’re fairly confident he’s going to be just fine moving forward. There will be days like this, even for generational superstar like Ohtani, who launched his 26th round-tripper of the season during Saturday’s extra-inning win over the division-rival Giants. The 29-year-old slugger has gone deep nine times over his last 15 contests. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:37 pm

    • Set for second start Tuesday
Keuchel is listed as the Brewers' scheduled starter for Tuesday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Advice: Keuchel endured a rocky Milwaukee debut this past Wednesday against Texas, covering four innings and striking out four while allowing five earned runs on eight hits -- including two home runs -- and one walk. Don't look for the veteran southpaw's fortunes to improve much as he makes his second turn through the Milwaukee rotation in Colorado, one of the most unforgiving environments for pitchers.
