    • Hit hard early
Gomber (1-5) took the loss Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: All five runs against Gomber came in the first inning, when he allowed four consecutive singles to open the frame as part of a six-hit inning that included a pair of stolen bases. However, the 30-year-old settled in after the nightmare first frame, allowing just two baserunners afterward before a Jake Meyers double prompted Colorado to remove Gomber after 89 pitches. Gomber has endured a rough June, yielding at least three runs in all five starts and only completing six innings once. He owns a 9.39 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 23.0 innings during the month. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start against Milwaukee early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 am
    • Racks up three hits
Meyers went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI single and a run scored during Tuesday's 5-2 win over Colorado.

Advice: Tuesday's effort marked Meyers' first three-hit game since May 19 and was his fourth game with at least three hits this season. The outfielder has rebounded from an 0-for-14 stretch at the plate during the middle of June, going 7-for-19 (.368) with three doubles and a home run in his last four games. • Salvages day with late homer
Toglia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Toglia was hitless in his first three at-bats but saved his stat line in the ninth inning by taking Josh Hader yard on a solo homer. The first baseman has homered on back-to-back nights and has belted four long balls in his last 10 games, batting 10-for-39 (.256) with nine runs and nine RBI during that stretch. • Rocked by Halos
Spence (4-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk across 5.1 innings against the Angels. He struck out six.

Advice: Spence surrendered his most runs in an outing this season Tuesday, with five of those runs coming in the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander allowed the first four batters he faced in the fourth to reach safely before Mickey Moniak cleared the bases with a grand slam. While Spence has been a bit inconsistent as a starter, he owns a 4.40 ERA in starts along with a 34:9 K:BB over 43.0 innings. He's projected for a rematch against the Angels early next week. • Collects three hits
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI single and a run during Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Alvarez was excellent in his first career start, clubbing a double in his first at-bat before being driven in by JJ Bleday and then plating Shea Langeliers on an infield single in the eighth. The 29-year-old had his contract selected Saturday, marking his first big league stint since entering the minors in 2016. With Abraham Toro (hamstring) on the injured list, Alvarez should have some opportunities at third base, though he'll have to compete with Tyler Nevin for playing time at the hot corner. • Belts first grand slam
Moniak went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and an additional run during Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Athletics,

Advice: Moniak flipped the game on its head in the fourth inning, giving the Halos a three run advantage after swatting his first career grand slam at the expense of Mitch Spence. The center fielder is batting .220 with three home runs, four steals and 18 RBI since Mike Trout (knee) got hurt. Rotowire.com Today, 12:08 am
    • Spins six scoreless
Wilson (5-3) picked up the win Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing three hits with no walks across six scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Advice: For the fourth time in his last six appearances, Wilson worked in bulk relief, taking the mound in the third inning after Hoby Milner opened the contest. Still, Wilson was able to complete six innings for the first time since May 6 as part of his best outing as a Brewer. The 26-year-old has been incredibly volatile across his last four appearances, yielding at least five runs twice but giving up no runs in the other pair of games. Overall, Wilson owns a 3.89 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 74.0 innings. While it's unclear if he'll follow an opener again, he's on track to pitch in Colorado early next week. • Loses again
Heaney (2-9) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Heaney fell to his ninth loss of 2024, a total that only trails Dakota Hudson. However, seven of those losses have come despite Heaney allowing three or fewer earned runs, a result of inconsistent defense and a Rangers' offensive attack that's underwhelmed compared to expectations. Still, Heaney has been a reliable option since the start of May, owning a 3.26 ERA and a 49:11 K:BB in 49.2 innings. The lefty is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday at Baltimore. • Lands rare save
Peguero picked up the save Tuesday against the Rangers, striking out one during a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: With Trevor Megill having pitched the past two days, Peguero stepped into the closing role Tuesday and fired a perfect inning for his second save of the season. The effort was a rebound for Peguero, who yielded four hits and two runs (one earned) across his previous two innings. Peguero owns a 5-2 record with a 2.81 ERA across 32.0 innings this season.
