    • Spencer Horwitz picks up three hits, two RBI
Spencer Horwitz went 3-for-4 with two RBI in a loss Thursday to the Astros.

Advice: Horwitz singled in the first inning to score two runs off Framber Valdez. The infielder would single two more times to improve his slash to .314/.435/.486 over 23 games and 70 at-bats. A relatively small sample, but it’s hard not to be impressed by what Horwitz is doing right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm
    • Xander Bogaerts starts rehab assignent Thursday
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The veteran shortstop has been sidelined since May 20th with a fractured left shoulder. The team originally claimed his absence would be two months, which would be almost exactly after the All-Star break. Considering Bogaerts will need a few rehab appearances to get his timing back, the Padres could wait until after the break to call him up, but there’s a chance we’d see him at the end of next week if all goes well. The 31-year-old has not been great this season even when healthy, hitting .219/.265/.316 in 47 games with four home runs and four steals. It’s fair to wonder how often Bogaerts will run when he comes back since head-first slides into second base could risk aggravating the shoulder injury. Given his modest power output, if his stolen base totals take a meaningful hit, he would likely be a middle infield option for deeper leagues but not a starting shortstop in shallower formats. • On bench against lefty
Horwitz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Hortwitz will head to the bench Thursday with lefty Framber Valdez on the mound for Houston. Leo Jimenez will man second base and bat eighth in the series finale. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:03 am
    • Clubs fourth homer
Moreno went 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Moreno doubled in his first at-bat before adding a two-run shot in the third to tie the game at 4-4. The catcher went on to reach three times in the contest and has now hit safely in each of his first two games since returning from a thumb injury. It marked Moreno's third three-hit performance of the campaign, and he's now homered in two of his last three games (dating back to June 21). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:56 am
    • Loving Dodger Stadium
Walker went 4-for-5 with a walk, a double, two home runs, four RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker, who homered in the first game of the series Tuesday, gave Arizona the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning then finished off the Dodgers with a two-run shot in the ninth. The first baseman has five home runs in Dodger Stadium this season and 17 in 41 career games at Chavez Ravine. Walker leads the Diamondbacks with 20 homers and 59 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:36 am
    • Christian Walker homers twice in win over Dodgers
Christian Walker went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI in a 12-4 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Walker knocked a base hit in the third for his second hit. He followed with a solo homer in the fourth, his second in as many days against the Dodgers. Walker added a double in the sixth and scored on a home run by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. before blasting his second homer of the game with a three-run shot in the ninth. The 33-year-old slugger is hitting .267/.339/.506 with 20 homers and 59 RBI across 369 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:40 pm
    • Josh Smith knocks in run with a double
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 an RBI double on Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: Smith’s double was the third Rangers’ run in a three-run third inning off Adam Mazur. It felt like they’d be in for a big night before being shut down by the Padres bullpen. Still, Smith will not stop hitting and he’s slotted in either second or third the Rangers’ lineup for 12 straight games. Hit smack dab in the middle of Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Adolis García, and Wyatt Langford is a great place to accumulate runs and RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:55 pm

    • Orlando Arcia (tooth) remains out of Braves lineup
Orlando Arcia (tooth) remains out of the Braves’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Giants.

Advice: Arcia had his abscessed tooth extracted on Tuesday but is still dealing with an infection and wasn’t quite ready to go on Wednesday. Zack Short will draw another start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Jordan Hicks and the Giants on Wednesday evening in Atlanta. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:48 pm

    • Not in starting nine
Arcia (tooth) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Arcia is dealing with an abscessed tooth and will be held out of the starting lineup for a second straight game. Though it's unclear exactly when he'll be available to start, Arcia had the issue addressed Tuesday, so it's likely he'll be cleared in the coming days. Zack Short will bat ninth and play shortstop.
