      Advice: Ramirez set the tone early with a two-run first inning homer. He added a run-scoring double in the third and finished with his second three-hit effort over his past five contests.     • Hamstring tightened during start
      Gallen revealed after Saturday's start against the Tigers that his right hamstring tightened up on him during the fourth inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: It's the same hamstring that he had issues with earlier this season, resulting in an early removal from one start and having another pushed back. Gallen wound up pitching into the seventh inning Saturday, ultimately getting charged with three runs on seven hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 frames. The right-hander said after the outing that his hamstring feels fine and he's unconcerned. Still, given that it's been a recurring problem, it's something to keep in mind.       Gore allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against Philadelphia on Saturday.

      Advice: Gore carried a one-run lead into the seventh inning but was pulled after Bryson Stott tagged him for a one-out, game-tying solo homer. Despite that disappointing exit, this was a positive overall outing for the lefty hurler, and he's now fired back-to-back quality starts for the first time this season. Gore didn't have the strikeout stuff Saturday that he had his previous time out, when he fanned nine Red Sox batters over six frames, but Gore did established a season-high mark with his 6.1 frames.     • Zac Gallen strikes out 10 in loss to Tigers
      Zac Gallen pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of three-run baseball.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered seven hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He had kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but the wheels fell off in the seventh. After allowing a leadoff double to Gio Urshela, he struck out the next two hitters before allowing an RBI double to Javier Báez and an RBI single to Carson Kelly before turning the ball over to the bullpen — who would allow the inherited runner to score as well. Gallen generated a whopping 20 swings and misses in the ballgame — 12 of those on his knuckle curve — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent.       MacKenzie Gore allowed two earned runs and struck out three in 6 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday.



      Advice: Gore hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start all season, but he only has two wins to show for it. He lowered his ERA to 3.30 with this outing. The 25-year-old left-hander gets a better matchup in his next game as he’s scheduled to face the Mariners at home next weekend.

      Jose Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI against the Twins on Saturday.



      Advice: Ramirez started the scoring with a two-run homer against Bailey Ober in the first inning. He also had an RBI double in the third inning. Ramirez seems to be turning it around as his average is up to .260 on the season now and his RBI total is up to 41.

      Gil (5-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. He struck out 14.

      Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander set a new career high in Ks -- in fact, Gil has never struck out more than nine batters in a big-league start before. He generated an incredible 22 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, and 40 combined called/swinging strikes, as he produced his fourth straight quality start and won his fifth straight decision. Gil is having a breakout campaign, and he'll take a 2.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 62:27 K:BB through 49 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.       Harrison (4-1) picked up the win Saturday versus the Rockies, yielding three runs on five hits and two walks over five frames. He notched four strikeouts.

      Advice: Harrison was originally supposed to start Friday but got pushed back a day, with the Giants indicating it was because they were keeping an eye on his workload. His velocity was down a bit Saturday and he had thrown only 79 pitches over his five frames before getting pulled. While not overly sharp, Harrison was still good enough against the Rockies to pick up his fourth victory of the season.       Kyle Harrison allowed three runs with four strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Rockies on Saturday.

      Advice: Harrison worked through a pair of scoreless innings before the Rockies brought three runs in to score on three hits and a walk in the third inning. He worked two more scoreless frames, ending his day after five with four strikeouts.
