      Luis Gil allowed four runs on two hits in four innings in a loss to the Reds on Tuesday.

      Advice: The command simply wasn’t there for Gil on Tuesday, walking three and striking out three while throwing 83 pitches in just four innings. There has been some concern that Gil is hitting a bit of a wall after allowing 16 earned runs in his last 9 2/3 innings. The Yankees maintain confidence in the 26-year-old, but he left a lot of sliders up in the zone today and struggled to command his changeup, so perhaps he is getting a little tired in his breakout season. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer.       Advice: The New York southpaw scattered seven singles en route to his third quality start of 2024. After issuing eight free passes across 10.1 innings in his previous two outings, Peterson was much sharper in this appearance, walking fewer than two for just the second time this season in six starts. The 28-year-old now sports a 3.51 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB in 33.1 overall innings. He is currently slated to make his next start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend.       Advice: This was a 3-3 game through nine, but Martinez broke the game open with his homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th. The Mets went on to score three more times in the frame, which proved important after the Nationals came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
