    • Luis Gil fans nine Red Sox in tough-luck loss
Luis Gil was outstanding in a tough-luck loss against the Red Sox on Sunday night, racking up nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler scattered just four hits on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He was engaged in a scoreless pitcher’s duel with Kutter Crawford until he served up an opposite-field solo homer to Rafael Devers in the seventh inning. Gil generated 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches in the ballgame — seven on his fastball and six on his slider — while posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine outing and finish the first half strong as he brings a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 111/48 K/BB ratio (96 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Orioles in Baltimore on Saturday. • Gets walked off Sunday
Hader (3-5) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing a solo home run without recording an out.

Advice: Hader entered with the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth. He served up a solo shot to Christian Vazquez, which gave the Twins the walk-off win. This is the fourth time in six outings that Hader has given up a run -- all of which have been on homers -- though he hasn't taken a blown save since April 2. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB through 39 innings while converting 15 of 16 save chances this season. Since his missteps have rarely resulted in trouble so far, Hader's security as the Astros' closer remains high, but his recent struggles with the long ball are reminiscent of his awful second half of 2022, which is at least worth keeping an eye on for fantasy purposes. • Freddie Freeman one of six Dodgers named All-Stars
Freddie Freeman was named to his eighth National League All-Star team on Sunday.

Advice: Freeman is one of six Dodgers to be named to the National League squad. Shohei Ohtani had already been named as the league’s starting designated hitter and Tyler Glasnow was named among the pitchers on Sunday. In addition, Teoscar Hernandez, Will Smith and Mookie Betts were named to the team with Freeman as reserves. Joining them as All-Star reserves announced on Sunday were Elly De La Cruz, CJ Abrams, Ryan McMahon, Jackson Merrill, Heliot Ramos, Bryan Reynolds, Marcell Ozuna, Luis Arraez and Pete Alonso. • Josh Hader blows save, takes 5th loss of season
Josh Hader allowed one run on one hit without recording an out in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Hader was brought into a tie game and allowed a game-winning home run to Christian Vazquez. Hader now has a 4.15 ERA to go along with 15 saves on the season. It’s unlikely that Houston will give him competition for the closer’s role, but it hasn’t been a great first season in Houston for the left-hander who now has two blown saves and five losses on the year. • Red-hot Miranda out of lineup Sunday vs. Houston
Jose Miranda is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: Miranda’s reward for reaching in 12 straight at-bats is a rest Sunday for the series finale against the Astros. The 26-year-old will begin the game on the bench with Matt Wallner getting the start after being recalled from St. Paul. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:19 am

    • Resting after historic streak ends
Miranda is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Miranda will get a breather for the series finale after he recorded a pair of base hits and was hit by a pitch before flying out in his final at-bat of Saturday's 9-3 win. The flyout ended a streak of 13 consecutive plate appearances in which he got on base and 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit, the latter of which tied an MLB record. Miranda still has a 10-game active hitting streak, which he'll presumably put on hold Sunday before he likely returns to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the White Sox. • Taking seat against lefty Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The shortstop was hit by an Edwin Diaz fastball in the ninth inning Saturday, but there's been no indication Cruz sustained a significant injury from being plunked. Even so, the Pirates will give the lefty-hitting Cruz the afternoon off Sunday while southpaw Sean Manaea takes the hill for the Mets. Jared Triolo will check in at shortstop for Cruz, who had started in each of the previous six games while going 8-for-22 with two home runs, one double, three walks, one stolen base, five RBI and three runs. • Delivers two more runs
Walker went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres.

Advice: Walker provided the game-winning knock with a two-run single in the top of the 10th inning. The scorching hot Walker is 15-for-30 with five home runs over the last seven contests and has knocked in 13 runners over the last six. The surge leaves him with 22 home runs (tied for sixth in MLB) and 64 RBI (seventh in the league). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:06 am
    • Christian Walker delivers go-ahead hit vs. Padres
Christian Walker went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th inning on Saturday in the Diamondbacks’ extra-inning victory over the Padres.

Advice: Walker put Arizona ahead in the 10th inning with a two-run single off Padres reliever Wandy Peralta. The 33-year-old veteran first baseman has homered five times since June 2 and is batting an absurd .500 (15-for-30) with five round-trippers and 13 RBI over his last seven contests. Simply put, he’s one of the hottest hitters in baseball at the moment. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:34 am
