    • Zack Littell strikes out six in win
      Zack Littell allowed two runs on four hits in five innings in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

      Advice: Littell also struck out six and walked one while registering 14 whiffs on 38 swings for a 37 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. His only mistake was on a two-run home run by Ty France in the fifth inning. That’s two straight solid starts for Littell, who has not pitched more than five innings since June 9th.     • Cole Irvin hit hard Tuesday in loss to Guardians
      Cole Irvin was lit up for eight runs (four earned) over four innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Guardians.

      Advice: Irvin was torched for 10 hits, including a three-run homer by José Ramírez in the fourth inning prior to his early exit. He notched only one strikeout and didn’t issue a walk. He’ll face the Rangers on Sunday his next time out. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:26 pm

    • Dominates Giants
      Gray (9-4) picked up the win Sunday against San Francisco, allowing one run on one hit with no walks across seven innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Gray took a perfect game into the seventh inning before Patrick Bailey launched a solo home run with two outs. Although the Cardinals' bullpen gave up two more runs, Gray was able to claim his ninth win of 2024, his most wins in a season since 2019. The 34-year-old has completed at least seven innings in three consecutive starts and owns a 2.95 ERA along with an 11.1 K/9 across 83.1 innings.       McKenzie tossed three innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six batters in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.

      Advice: McKenzie was challenged early versus Toronto, giving up a two-run home run to Vladimir Guerrero in the top of the first inning. He later gave up a leadoff homer to Spencer Horwitz in the third, which was ultimately his final inning on the mound. McKenzie failed to pitch past the third inning for the second consecutive start Sunday, throwing just 41 of his 74 total pitches for strikes, while the four walks matched his total from his loss Tuesday versus Seattle.       Sonny Gray allowed one run on one hit in seven innings in a win over the Giants on Sunday.

      Advice: Gray also struck out eight and walked none while posting a 30 percent whiff rate and 39 percent CSW. He only made one real mistake on the day, allowing a solo home run to Patrick Bailey in the seventh inning. The Giants averaged just 81.6 mph on all balls put in play during the game, and Gray now has a 2.81 ERA heading into a start against the Reds at home next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:09 pm

    • Triston McKenzie strikes out six in three innings
      Triston McKenzie allowed three runs in three innings on Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out six and walked four before a rain delay ended his start.

      Advice: Rain or no rain, McKenzie had maybe one inning of work left in this one as efficiency continues to elude him. He hasn’t completed six innings since May 17th and hasn’t walked fewer than two batters in a start since May 1st. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:34 pm

      Pivetta took a no-decision Saturday against Cincinnati, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: All three of the runs allowed by Pivetta came via the long ball -- Spencer Steer tagged him for a two-run homer in the first inning, and Elly De La Cruz launched a solo shot in the third. Pivetta didn't damage his ERA too dramatically, but he exited after 4.1 innings after racking up 96 pitches. It was the third time over his past six starts that he's failed to complete five frames, though the right-hander also has a pair of seven-inning quality starts during that span.       Berrios (6-6) allowed five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Guardians.

      Advice: The Guardians aren't known for power, but they tagged Berrios with three home runs -- Bo Naylor, Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan all took the right-hander deep. With seven homers allowed over his last four starts, Berrios' trouble with the long ball is becoming a concern. He's given up 14 runs across 22.2 innings in that span and now has a 3.43 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 68:23 K:BB through 97 innings across 16 starts this season.     • Pivetta allows three in no-decision against Reds
      Nick Pivetta allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday.

      Advice: Pivetta gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He was on the hook for the loss before a late comeback by the Red Sox offense. It was another pedestrian start from Pivetta that might be becoming a trend. In his first eight starts of the year, he had 51 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. In his last three starts, he’s had just 13 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home next weekend.
