    • Fades in no-decision
Woods Richardson came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After cruising through four scoreless innings, the right-hander began to run out of gas in the fifth, serving up a solo shot to Justyn-Henry Malloy and a two-run blast to Ryan Kreidler that briefly gave Detroit a 3-2 lead. Woods Richardson was eventually lifted after 94 pitches (61 strikes), falling just short of his fifth quality start of the season. He'll carry a 3.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60:21 K:BB through 71.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Astros. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:47 am
    • Takes loss Tuesday
Wesneski (2-5) took the loss Tuesday versus the Phillies, giving up five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.

Advice: Wesneski struggled heavily in what was just his second start since May 8, as his five runs allowed set a new season high for the 26-year-old righty. Three of those runs came courtesy of Trea Turner, who hit a pair of home runs in the third and fifth frames. Wesneski has now surrendered eight earned runs in nine innings since returning to the Cubs' rotation. He's lined up to face the Angels on Sunday, and any starts beyond that point will likely depend on whether Javier Assad (forearm) is able to return from the IL. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:26 am
    • Rebounds in rematch
Spence (5-4) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings to earn the win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Spence was tagged for six runs over 5.1 innings in his last start, which was also against the Angels. He bounced back this time, limiting the damage on his line to a Nolan Schanuel sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Spence is still looking for consistency as a starter, but he has been able to complete at least five frames in each of his last seven outings. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 61:17 K:BB over 73.2 innings through 20 appearances (nine starts) overall. The 26-year-old is projected for a tough home start versus the Orioles this weekend. • Mitch Spence fans five in victory over Angels
Mitch Spence was terrific in Tuesday night’s victory over the Angels, allowing just one run on six hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: Spence piled up five strikeouts on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came in the fifth inning as Nolan Schanuel plated Brandon Drury with a sacrifice fly. Spence generated nine swings and misses on 94 pitches on the night — four each on his cutter and slider — while posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent. Now 5-4 on the season, the 26-year-old hurler will tote a 4.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 61/17 K/BB ratio (73 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s battle against the hot-hitting Orioles. • Wesneski allows five earned in loss to Phillies
Hayden Wesneski allowed five hits and five earned runs over five innings while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Things couldn’t have gone much worse for Wesneski, who allowed a season-high five runs on Tuesday against the Phillies. Shortstop Trea Turner was responsible for the majority of that damage, as he took Wesneski deep twice while driving in three runs. Wesneski has struck out seven batters in back-to-back games and will carry a 4.14 ERA into his next start, which is set for Sunday against the Angels. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:48 pm
    • Woods Richardson allows three earned vs. Tigers
Simeon Woods Richardson allowed four hits and three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings while striking out four in Tuesday’s win over the Tigers.

Advice: Woods Richardson pitched four scoreless frames to kick off the game before giving up home runs to Justyn-Henry Malloy and Ryan Kreidler in the fifth inning. He would return to pitch part of the sixth inning but was pulled in favor of Jorge Alcala after walking Colt Keith. Woods Richardson has allowed three earned runs or less in each of his last three outings and will look to pick up his fourth win of the season on Sunday against the Astros. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Michal Kopech takes loss against Guardians
Michael Kopech allowed one run on one hit in 1/3 of an inning in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

Advice: Kopech entered the ninth in a tie game and allowed a lead-off single to Andres Gimenez. Gimenez would later move over on a groundout and then a wild pitch allowed him to advance to third where he was driven in by a sac fly off the bat of Bo Naylor. Kopech had allowed just one run in his last six innings and wasn’t particularly bad here, but the wild pitch highlights some of the inconsistency that he brings at the end of games. • Facing hitters this week
Stewart (shoulder) will throw two live batting practice sessions this week, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: If he comes out of them with no concerns, a rehab assignment could be next. Stewart has been out with right shoulder tendinitis since early May but looks to be tracking toward a return around the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:58 pm

    • Nearing reinstatement
Hoeing (hamstring) threw 2.2 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday and was seen with the team ahead of Tuesday's game against Boston, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hoeing has completed five rehab outings with Jacksonville and has gone deeper than one inning in three straight appearances. While he hasn't officially been reinstated, it appears as though Hoeing will rejoin the active roster soon considering he's currently with the team in Miami. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:08 pm
